i just put a new set of wheels on my mav 16x8 hopsters witha 4 inch backspace this was too much as a 3 1/2 would have fit better i had to run 1/2 inch spacers to clear the snubber areai put the new MT ET streets tyyers in a
255 x50 x16 and my mav sits way to high, like 2 1/2 inches from the top of the tyre can i use a mid eye spring from a mustang an if so what year interchanges with a 70 mav as for the front i am just going to cut the coils to achieve the stance i want for now ill upgrade latter..and will a lower qtr from a 67/68 mustang be a similar contour as the mavs as i need to replace the r/h lower 6 inches..thanks for any help Barry

4 inch backspace, wheels size of 8 inches and that tire size whichi is 26 inches tall should work 100%! something else must be wrong.

thats why i tell people to run the 3-1/2 all the time. thats something that will always work with NO changes to a maverick regardless of what people say they have cut or changed cuz thats not what most people want to know. :tsk:

ok just ramabling... sorry :p so hate me :p :)

ok bad to your questions.... i'm not to sure what you are saying in your post, from what i make of it the top part of your innerside of your tire is hitting the rubber snuber on the inside of the wheel wheel correct? :hmmm:

if your wanting to use one of those mid eye mustang leaf springs to lower it, it will not work its differant. i would suggest to either use a lowering block which is the cheapest way. i would also suggest if you have the money rearch the leaf spring to the correct height.

as far as the rest of your question i'm not to sure what your asking do you want to lower the front with mustang parts?

try these links maybe this will help on everything

The Tyre Is Hitting The Metal Part Of Where The Snubber Goes That Sticks Out In The Wheel Well........as For The Leaf Spring It Does Not Have A Shackle Lift It Seams To Be Stock, How Many Leafs Do The Stock Leaf Springs Have, Maybe Someone Added A Helper Leaf To It To Lift It.???? It Just Seams To High , Even If I Run A Lowering Block ( 1" Max)it Would Only Give Me An Inch..there Is A Spring Place Near Me Maybe Ill See How Much To Dearch Them But Will They Dearch A Spring 1 1/2 Inches Ill  Have To Ask??? AS FOR THE FRONT I WILL JUST USE THE SPRINGS YOU RECOMMEND AND LEAVE THE REST STOCK FOR NOW.. ... Thanks For The Help I Have Visited Your Sit Many Times And Am Very Impresst With It Once Again Thanks Barry...........

stock leafs are 3.. then again that could vary from year to year maybe someone else might be able to answer that for sure.

do you have any pictures of the rear and where it is hitting that might help me and other to know what is hitting for sure.. cutting the snubers like he said would work too.

    Snubbers?

    Two words: Big hammer.

Your rearend is too narrow to run a 255 width tire and an 8-inch rim with 4-inch backspace. You need either a more shallow backspaced wheel, a wider rearend, or a narrower tire (like a 235).

The 4-leaf springs ride very stiff. 3-leaf would ride much more nicely but with the increased risk of sagging over time, or bottoming out on dips in the road when passengers are in the back seat.

I want to eventually find a Granada rearend for my Maverick, so that I can run a wider tire on the rear without rubbing the leaf springs. The Granada rear will push the wheels outward 3/4" on each side. It also has wider brake drums and shoes for a little bit of increased stopping power...

I'm thinking that the 255 would do fine on the rear. But with the 16 inch rims & 4 leafs springs might put the tire right at the crazy spot. Like the others say...large hammer for the snubber. I have a 17x8 and I think it has a 4.5 inch backspacing. Mybe I'm thinking wrong. It's been a minute since a was working on getting rims. I thought the 4 inches would be right.

    I'm sorry...I just saw the date on this...lol...brain glitch:coco:

I bought some 4 leafs from Espo and it jacked mine up that high. I just replaced them with a set from JC Witney and now it sits like stock.

I looked at the pictures, and I think it looks pretty good. Mine rode that high, so I bought some cheap shackles from AutoZone that are made to jack a truck UP, then cut them about 1/2" shorter than stock and re-drilled the holes. Basically, I cut them as short as I could and still be able to run the bolts through them. It brought me down a bit, but I still have air shocks (which are for sale!!!) so that brought it back up a little. Stock shocks should put me sitting pretty.
