light blue with all the pics from a get together you all had.. i am curious as to the size of the rear rims and tire specs.. thanks
yes .. it is you... woohoo... i need to know what rims sizes and tires sizes you are running... gear ratio.. etc.. thanks those rear tires are MASSIVE... what did you have to do to fit them? the shiny silver rims not the black ones in some of your pics.. thanks
while were talking about grabber71's car i have a few questions/comments too... i love the black/chrome wheel treatment..dunno if these were the rims/tires in question curious about the stripe job custom or a factory treatment that I dont recognize? and is your car lifted in the rear or lowered in the front (or neither) - I'm only asking, becuase my wife insists that when my mav is finished, "it has to have a perky butt, like that one" I guess I'm saying all this because my car wants to be like grabber71's when it grows up A.P. out
Wow...not to many people ask about the tires! Anyway.. the Centerlines are 15X8's with a 4.5" backspace. The rear tires are "Kelly Springfield" 295/50/15. The springs were rearched about 7 years ago(they added an extra leaf also)..but I found it sat much to high so I removed one of the stock leafs and left the new leaf in. I have just just over an inch of clearance between the rim and fenderwell...both front and back. I have had the wheel lips rolled and have half an inch clearance between the tire and the spring(no rubbing in 4 years now). Even when I head to the track with all my tools, jack, slicks and two extra passenger they do not rub! The rear is a 9"(out of a 66' Mustang and has been centered), it has 4:10 gears with a soft locker, pinion support and strange axles. The car has a 351w with a very mild cam(274 duration) and runs 12.30's in the quarter..and is driven everywhere! I plan on attending the "Westcoast Roundup" this summer and will drive it to and race it at the event. The Black rims are Called black nuggets. I don't think they make them anymore. They are 8" also but have an 4" offset(I have them for sale(like new)). I still have the stock coils(250ci) out front... The stripes are my own idea. It was painted in '93 and I could not find the proper stripes so I just made my own by scaning the grabber logo. I put them up higher(like the '69/'70 Shelbys) cause I figured the looked better and made the car look lower(not so top heavy) There..that'll teach you for asking me stuff Any more questions?
sounds great. im sure inqquiring minds want to know.. but how much for the rims? when i saw those tires, i was really curious, as i have heard many people asking whats the biggest DOT tire you can put in there, and it looks like you have found that out. i think 295s would be WAY to much tire for me.. well, until i build the "big" engine. hehe what are the dimensions of the front tires and rims. and is there any way you could get some closer pics of the rims and tires.. thanks
yuppers..it will be a long drive....I'm hoping to meet up with others along the way and maybe start a "Cattle Drive" ...anyone interested? As far as the rims..I have 4 15X8's and two 14X7's(front ones). The fronts have 215/70/14's mounted(less than 1500miles) and look like new. I'm asking $400(canadian) for everything...including caps! Which rims did you need to see pics of...the Centerlines or the Black nugguts?
how much US is 400 canadian? i was wondering about the centerline rims that are on the car in the picture.. thanks
Hey 71, I just came across your pictures (random ones at the top of the front page of the forum) and had the same questions as ST, and found this thread, which, apparently, is pretty recent (like yesterday, schwah!). Beautiful car, and I really like the tires/rims combo also. I have 15X8 cragar s/s on my rear, and would love to get something that big at the back. I think 255 is about as big as it will go without rolling my fenders. Also, I have been wondering which size to put on front, as the rims I bought came with 195/60s and they SUCK!!! Way too small. I have argued with myself about 225 vs 215 (I am winning the argument, I just don't know which way!) Anyway, just blabbering Beautiful car. Amazed I haven't seen it more often on here.
I have the car off the road at the moment(its a winter thing ) and as such the wheel are off. Did you just want a better pic of the wheels or how they fit(clearance)? I think you can see them pretty good in some of the pics..or go the Centerlines web page and look under "Warrior" rim. Scooper: I had 205/70/14 on the front previously...but I now have 215/60/15 on an 7" rim with 3 3/8th backspace. They fit perfectly and the handling is much much better(same brand of tires) and the steering effort(manual) is almost the same.
