Welcome! What is involved in buying a car from the U.S.A. and having it shipped to the U.K ? Is there a bit of paper work involved?

    Hi Russ,
Well I brought the Mav off E-Bay, sent the money via PayPal and then I get my shipping company to arange pick up from the seller and drop off at the port where it passes through customs and then on to the boat. When it gets here it goes through customs again and then my shipper pays import duty (10%) and VAT (17.5%), he picks up the car and brings it to me. He does all the paper work for customs etc.
When I get the car I have to make sure it is up to MOT standard (inspection) and then take it for test, when it has passed I then apply for a plate. Thats it!
