January 14, 2006 Semi-finished condition (will install Dzus fasteners, trim, and then paint later). Hood: Harwood PN 17100 SN 9 613 94 ($75 NIB from friend - hood is no longer available through Harwood I believe???) 4" Harwood Cowl Scoop: NIB PN 1114 (List $149 + S&H New, $75 NIB from "Mike" on craigslist.com) Mounting/Trim/Prime Labor: $75 (Mike's Auto Body Houston, TX 281-0497-5734) Mike came over today and trimmed the contour of the hood cowl-to-windshield/cowl plate today. He also cut out the center section of the hood to make the scoop functional (after I was sure I wanted this scoop). I talked to Mike about painting the entire car today rather than just this hood and another one he is working on for me (more on that later). Overall, I am pleased with this combo and Mike's work.
Yeah, that works! Dan freaks me out to see greenery in the pics,, all dead and brown here. But the snow melted today
That looks great:bananaman ...The chebby owners better stay indoors and under the covers:confused: they won't know what you got under that hood....
I really like it. I am amazed that there is that much hood cut away. Would I be able to do that and then put it on the stock hinges, or does it need to be lifted out? I would even try hinging it at the front like a corvette. I have to do that...
a little "flat black primer" and you will be one of the "boyz and thier hoods" looks great...frank...
Yeah, I was a little disappointed when he painted it in Gray primer rather than Black. For the record, it currently weighs 18lbs (according to my Wal*Mart bathroom scale). I didn't think it weighed that much - not that 18lbs is a lot, relative to a stock hood. I'm thinking about getting a can of "Carbon Fiber" to paint it with. It'll probably cut the weight in half. I'll PM 'Rattle-Can Dan' for some tips.
hood looks great. scooper, i don't think the hood can be used with the springs. i may be wrong but any that i have seen that use springs are reinforced in that section of the hood and also have inserts molded in for the bolts.
