Hi all has any one ever changed the shock towers to mustang ones to install a 390-428 like they did in the early 70s

the more common front end conversion is a mustang II swap in, but I have seen a couple different ones as well.makes enough room for just about any motor in there. as for the engine, ive only heard of one (personally) using an FE block.

    Nostalgia?

How about Fast Eddie Schartmans original Boss 429 powered Maverick?
This one has been restored. I don't know what they did in '69-'71 to
make these fit. Perhaps a straight axle was used as the Mustang II
front end was not around yet. Maybe they used the Pinto front
    suspension-1970?

Back in the early 70's when they moved the shock towers out, it was common practice to cut, section and weld the control arms in order to achieve the needed track width.
Don't know how safe this practice actually was or how it would handle on a street driven car.
Don't think it is something I want to risk my life with.
