I Was wanting to know if a 302 with rollor lifters is better then a 302 without roller lifters. If the rest of the engine is done up the same way???

The answer is yes and no. If you are building a motor to run 6500rpm max. Hyd roller is the way to go. IMO. If you want to rev to the moon a solid lifter or solid roller cam would be the ticket. If you just want to build a good engine on a budget hyd flat tappet will get it done just fine too. Hyd roller have a broader torque curve due to the ramp profile pertaining to the lobes. that a non roller just can't compete with. Torque is good(y)

On a mild motor you wont see a difference but ,the more serious the piece is the more difference you will see.I run a hyd roller in mine because i dont wanna screw with the valve lash but i have turned it 7800 with no valve float.

If built properly YES!!!!! Good valve train compents. Good Springs, 1 piece hardend push rods, I like the crane ones(they make custom fit to order) the roller rockers are a nice touch too!!! Sounds like your motor should be a runner.

I wouldnt go through all the expense of building a 347 and then not put in a roller cam. Considering my experience with flat tappet, I wont run anything other than roller again.

Yeah, roller lifters are the ticket. If you look at a flat tappet lifter and think about how it rides on the cam lobes, its really quite amazing that ALL flat tappet cams dont get wiped out by the lifters.

i always thought roller lifters were better in alot of ways. like friction for example. it reduces alot of friction as due "roller" rocker arms. not to mention i think that a roller lifter engine runs smoother and has a slightly smoother idle, not to mention you can run a slightly larger cam profile in roller applicarions. i have a roller conversion sitting in my garage going into my 71 as soon as i get my parts car here. and once i have my roller cam and lifters into place and get the engine running nicely im going to spring for some roller rockers. but to some up my rambling, i like roller cams and i think they due justice. that be my opinion:yup: (y)
