Well, I'm happy to announce that I've got a rearend housing for my car. It was a 9" out of a "riverbank" '58 Ford. Should make a nice home for some 4.11s. It was nice to be able to save a piece of useful Ford history before it was lost forever. Anyway, I'm hoping to swap a T-5 in when I put the 4.11s in, but I'm really trying to do my research so I don't get in a bind. Should be a vast improvement over 3.00s and and a c-4.
What is a "Riverbank" special?? Please excuse my ignorance of older Fords and all. I really like them a lot but never learned thier termonology or special packages etc...Thanks ahead of time
"Riverbank" simply refers to a car that is placed on a riverbank to help control erosion. It adds stability to the bank. It's something no car deserves, but many recieve in Wyoming.
There is a river in downtown Copper Hill, Tennesee that they did that. It's pretty wild/sad to be driving down the road next to the river and see a bunch of old 40's and 50's cars sticking out of the side of the bank. I'll have to get a picture of it next time I'm up there.
