Dear Clean70: As a veteran member of this board....I see no problem with any of the responses...other than some very slight "ribbing" by some. If you choose not to tell us what motor you are putting in your car.....that is fine. But I think you would find a lot more help if we knew exactly what motor (or at least "family" of motor) you were trying to put in. We are a very helpful bunch.
Well, gee, a little defensive aint we? I don't see where anyone criticized you or your alleged talent. If I were you I wouldn't put up with our childish behavior and just leave.
By not listing the engine you got just the response I would expect you would get from a FORD product site. Post the same question on a site related to the engine brand you are using and my bet says you would get the same response. Run whatever engine you want! It's you car. The steering components are the same on the Maverick whether a 6 cylinder or a V8. I am sure with your talents (BTW, of which nobody criticized) everything will work out just fine. I suggest doing as any talented builder and mock up a dummy engine and transmission and customize from there. If you think this is criticism then you are not prepared for what you will receive when you unveil your creation to the general public. And for the record I am an adult and I am not ashamed of my response!
From the other post, I was left with the impression that the starter on his swap engine is on the driver's side of the car. Maybe he is not aware that V8 Fords have the starter on the passenger side...
no, its very relevant, many on here have done non-traditional swaps, perhaps they've done what you are trying? good for you, many of us are the same way, personal choice, so dont get wound up. thats a possibility I didnt read anything derogatory, or preditions of failure. I'd say mavaholic said it all here,... we dont know you, you dont know us. if you have all of these these wonderful alleged talents and immense background of knowledge, you'd be figuring out on your own instead of trying to stir up crap here . I must have missed the part where we stated we knew it all once again, you get defensive instead of answering a simple question and potentially get an answer to your liking. good luck on your mystery project
Guys, please remember what being a Maverick means. He still is a Maverick owner, even if his car is going to be different than others. Remember, there are members on this forum who have non Ford parts in their Maverick or have done unconventional modifications to their cars.
Clean70, one time, I put a 410 ci small block chevy in a 1980 Fox Body mustang. Was a screamer!! I have done alot of engine swapping, put some engines in some weird combinations,, if the steering was modified, I could have put a 350 in my maverick, I was thinking of that,, but already had a running 5.0, and had to rebuild the 350. Ive always thought, hey! its your car! Do it how you wanna do it! Ill tell ya,,, when I took that Mustang to the drag strip, had to have it safety inspected before I could race,,, I popped the hood,, that guy bout fell over!! He said,, thats the strangest 5.0 he's ever seen!! My responce was,, its foreign!!! That ol mustang ran a 6.99 in the 1/8th, was a very scary car to drive on the street. Lots of torque. The inpsector brought a buddy over to see that car, was a nice conversation piece! If there is anything I can hep with, email me. at ChadS3@hotmail.com Like I said,, its your car, your money and time your putting into it. Stock or modified, it will be the talk of your circle when you succeeed! JMHO, ChadS
Oh hell, just go to the chevy maverick site, they will accept you there... just kidding. Motor swaps are cool
