The other day I was sitting it my car and went to put on the A/C. I heard something drop and bounce once or twice behind the panel. I am assuming it is one of the vacuum cables that fell off.

My question is, is there an easy way to get the control panel off without taking apart the whole dashboard? I'm hoping there is.

its probably the end of the vacuum switch broke off. Will air only blow out of the defroster now?

Thanks for answering. Actually, that is exactly what it is doing. So do I have to take apart the dash to get to it?

I believe all the plastic vacuum switches will eventually break, all the ones I got have. I have been able to fix the three of mine that have broken by bolting them back together. I used a 1/4" bolt with washers or fender washers, put the spring under the bolt head outside of the switch, put a washer and nut on the other side of the switch. Then I tightened the nut to compress the spring some then added a second nut tightened against the first one to keep it from backing off(jamb nut). If anybody needs it I could go out and look at it again and give a more detailed parts/procedure to put it back together.
