Comet Question

    are all comets,mavs 5 bolt pattern and 15 inch rims?

    No in the early years they were 4 bolt and as far as i know they were mostly 14 inch rims( i could be wrong but i think they were all 14 inch rims unless it was some option or something)

    70 Maverick brocures state 13" wheels were standard, although I've never seen anything but 14" on them. Starting in 71 all were 14" . 15" was never an option. All 70s were 4 lug. Starting in 71, 5 lug was available and standard on V8s.

    1972 Maverick Grabber - Color: Orange Also, 1976 Ford Maverick 4-door, 1977 Mercury Comet 2-door.
    All Mavericks/Comets 1973-1977 are 5-lug regardless of engine.

    my 71 has the stupid 4 lugs and i bought 14 inch rims from a guy in nashville when i was out there...

    i found out this past weekend.. they are 14 x 5.5 lol... no wonder my tires are so damned small on the car

    i thought they were 5 bolt pattern but are they 14 or 15 inch?:huh:

    Sold my 1974 Comet - Looking super nice 73 Maverick near Memphis
    What current tire size WW fits the standard 14" rims? They were orig, 6.45 X 14 ww right? What would look most orig now? Is that 185/75/r14 or 185/70/r14?

    what i would like to do is to put 15 by 7 on the back and 14s on the front.that would throw the speedom out i think.:huh: last comet i had ,had leafs rearked and had 15s with 11inches of tredi think they were pro trac n 50s.dont know what im going to do this time,maybe the samething.

    tjb, you could just take the car to a speedo shop and have the thing recalibrated. Its done with a different gear. Dont know if you have shops like that there. we have a couple here in my area.
