The wife and I are arguing about it being a grease "ZIRT/ZERT" or grease "ZIRK/ZERK". Consulted Webster's and neither are there. What is it really? How is it spelled? And prove it.
Now that is a damn good question. I just tried like 10 diffrent online dictionarys and no variation of the word was in there. I have always thought it was "zerk".
C'mon guys. WWW.GOOGLE.COM is a wonderful addition to this here Interweb thing. It's "Zerk" - also commonly called "Alemite" because of the brand. (thank goodness for google! )
When I have one thats broken off I call them dirty rotten no good @#$%$#@'s but I could'nt find that in the dictionary either.
I always knew it as a "Zerk" and the "Alemite" as a grease fitting that take's a slide on fitting (kinda like a button) I have never seen a so called "Alemite" grease fitting on a car, always on some large machine.
