I seem to remember seeing some older cars running big white letter tires in the back and skinny whitewalls in the front. I'm considering this "old school" combo on my '71. I mentioned it to Chandler the other night and he thought I was joking, heh! Anyone else remember this combo?
white letter tires only look good when they are on all four wheels, as for narrow white walls on front, don't look good to me, but to each his own...thats what it means to be a maverick...
I remember people running that tire combination around here. Usually it was a money thing. Could afford 2 tires....so wide back tires with raised white letters on the rear until money enough to buy white letters for the front. They also did that when it came to wheels, would buy the mags for the rear, then when they could afford them would buy the front ones.:16suspect Been guilty of both the aforementioned myself over the years.
I've only lived in O'Fallon 8 years, gosh! Anyways, yes, it was more than likely a money thing, the cheap hot-rodder is the one who starts most trends as I see it. I guess I'll try and find some white letter BFG's for the front, anyone know a series availible in small sizes?
Actually have a pic of my first grabber with that exact combo on it. It was called not enough money to buy new front tires, and not enough money to even get them turned around so the whitewall was inside. Dan
I remember that, I have done it myself but I always put the whitewalls inside. It was usualy done to get the cheapest ,tallest, skinny tire up front to look more racy.
