    Here's the story...

Everyone please chill and let me tell you the other side of story. Jlmnjem's post about the 76 Maverick was in the General section and it seemed to me he was offering the remaining parts to who ever wanted them. I was going to move the post to the free parts forum, but since Jlmnjem had less than the required posts to access the section, I decided to move it to the for sale section. Then a moderator saw the post and since it did not conform to the forum rules, it was removed. The post did not originate in the for sale forum, so I doubt that Jlmnjem was aware of the rules. After moving the thread, I should have replied to the thread and mention that location of the parts was required and that in this special case price would not be needed.

Jlmnjem, thank you for taking the time to register here and to take pictures of the car. I have moved your thread back to the for sale section. Im sorry that this happened and in the future, I will send a PM to the moderators whenever a similar thread is posted and tell them no to delete it.

This is the second time I've mentioned it:

I think, out of common courtesy, a Private Message to the person with
a "standard text form" explaining the rules (and why his post was edited) would
be a better way to approach most modded posts or threads. Obviously this does
not apply to blatent rules violations (posting personal attacks, nudity, vulgar
    language, etc).

Deleting a post without an explaination to the offender seems very rude and
disrespectful. I don't think that reflects the flavor or spirit of this board at all.

In this case, the guy had something to offer. As far as Jlmnjem is concerned, the
members here are A-holes. A simple PM or email with an explaination of why
the post was moved (or a warning of it about to be deleted) would've
    avoided all the hoopla.

Occassionaly, and on all boards, it seems a moderator pulls the trigger a tad
too early - and just because he can. :(

    rant/off

I agree that there was nothing wrong with the original post, in fact I tried to take up for him a little, but I thought it was a little of out of line to come back and make a post like this. Generally a PM to the mods or Stefan will clear any misunderstandings up, no reason to call out the board and get bent out of shape about it.

Well said Rick. I think deleting a for sale post because the seller forgot or didn't post a price is a bit extreme. A mod could PM the seller to correct the problem, if it's not corrected in say a week then delete the post. Give a guy a second chance before dumping the post I know there are rules but, Just because you CAN delete a post doesn't mean you HAVE to. Have a heart guys.

    I agree....

In this case.....I would appreciate it.

I can't see myself joining a Granada forum and reading a list of rules in order to offer parts on a car I had limited use for.

Seth, re-read my post. Im sure he was not aware of the rules in the classified forum as the post did not originate there.

Here is why I delete classified posts that do not follow the rules.
A scammer, looking to swindle money out of you, will not come back and update a post with a price and location and will probably only leave a contact email. Then a forum member, emails the scammer, gets the short end of the stick and is out their hard earned $$$.

Myself and the moderators do not delete posts for the fun of it. We do it because there are members who are not savvy when dealing with Internet transactions and have been burned. I have gotten requests for phone numbers and addresses, been asked to contact memebrs on their behalf and some people have sent parts without receiving payment first. These are just some of the stories that I have heard over the years.

I wasn't bent out of shape and I doubt anyone else was. I think Seth made the most valid observation. I can certainly see Stefans points as well and appreciate all his efforts. Posting opinions to help make this a better place is not blasting. Call it constructive criticism if you like. I prefer to just say its my opinion. The world is not black & white.

Oh boy I'm gone for 2 days and:90:..... I would like to add I have alot of heart. I have dealt with and helped 2 people on this board get money back from bad deals. I have tried a couple more times unsuccesfully. I don't see any of you guys heading up that department.:mad:The difference is I don't go around Bragging about my good deeds to this community. However as soon as somebody sees something they don't like "BAM" sucker punch. Stefan runs this site as safe as possible without holding anybodies hands. Ray and I are trusted by Stefan to do the same. Stefan has moderated a few of my post. I didn't:cry: about it. I realized my error and moved on........I tell you what the next "bad deal" in the forums I am passing on to the members of this post that think we are doing such a horrible job and think the simple security rules we have here are to harsh. All I can say is Good luck you will need it..............I'm dead serious about this.:evilsmile

No he was selling them and that makes him a candidate to follow the rules no different than anybody else here. I strictly enforce them with newbies because those are the guys that could possibly be "scammers" This guy was likely not one. I have no regrets for "moderating" his post.

See Jamie your age does not show all your wisdom but this post does. I wish I had the time to PM every body that made an ad that does not conform to the rules. However it takes enough of my time to read through this site and moderate where is needed, much less take time to express my actions to every body and thier mothers too.....I fix cars 6 to 7 days a week, moderate this ite with help from Ray and Stefan, Raise my neice, try to make my wife happy, Find time to ATV or camp.....In other words time is of the essence. If I am approached directly then I will out of respect respond. Otherwise I do what is needed and move on....

I don't think anyone "sucker punched " you. Several posts (including mine) praised the work you guys do. Others were saying the system may be a little flawed, not the moderators. :chillpill

Eric ,I should have taken the time to so thanks to those that did(y) Forgive me for getting a little worked up. I fired the "WarMachine" up for the first time in months. I came here to share that, only to find this mess:(

Some of what was said was directed at the admins and Mods personally. Saying we have no heart, or we shouldn't push the red button just because we can among other things. Any way I just hope people understand I really love this Hobby, this place, Mavericks, and fellow maverick enthuisists. I speak from the heart alot. I don't hold back for Good or bad.

My sentiments exactly, this was the point I was trying to get across in my first post. Not sure how being new or even just here temporarily to rid himself of some parts excuses him from reading and following the rules. It dosen't take that long to skim over them. By registering on this site, you agree to follow and abide by the rules.

Somebody comes here, for some reason does not take the time to post correctly. Maybe his first time here, maybe not. Maybe, just maybe it could all be innocent. I happen to like rules, rules make for better life. When I know the rules I can follow along easily. When the rules are not always the same, I have a real hard time seeing fairness. Fair and square moderating was done here in my opinion. Not here to argue, I just believe this board held up to the rules stated. If someone does not want to take time to read the rules, then he in the end is the person who loses out. We are not the losers cause he has now had the car crushed. I wish the dude luck. Life is too short to squabble about things like this. Lets go forward.
