Oh yea I forgot I did send him a Pm stating why his ad was deleted

    Your ad
does not comply with the forum rules. It was deleted as a result. Here is a link to the rules. Thanks

See here is a thread that didnlt meet all the rules. However because he was a long time member. The Admin and mods passed over it and asked for a location.

    and another

    http://mmb.maverick.to/showthread.php?t=21518

    same situation

Here's one where I actually ask for the location with a new member

Stefan, and Lance. Seeing as you guys said you PMed the offender, I apologise for my comment about having a heart. As I stated in my above post, to give a guy a chance to correct the problem, you state that you did. Good form. Again, I didn't mean for my "have a heart" comment to sound so harsh. Thanks again for the work you guys do.

    Okay.
I suppose that nothing can be done from preventing people from
posting for sale ads in the general section-except for deleting or moving the post.

If we have that many problems with for sale ads in the correct place, how about
making those post in a order form format with required fields.

As for the sellers name, address, e-mail, phone number, parts location,
    etc.

Would that make things easier on Stefan and the Moderators?

    Seth

I make no appologies. I still say you have to stay flexable. JMO.

What this all comes down to is a misunderstanding. It's not that big of deal (in my opinion). Let's move forward and continue to enjoy this great site...

No Big deal to me . Just opinions and as they say everyone has them.I think the moderators do a great job and i can understand exactly where they are coming from. A while back i sent a gas cap to a long time member before getting paid and I was had. No big deal and as I look at it if he gives up his membership status to keep from paying 12 bucks then he wasnt much of a member anyway so be it. He posted about a week ago and then deleted it I guess to keep from having me bring it up.

You will have to take that up with Craig. Since he handles all the administrative stuff, its up to him. I would like to see it myself but I'm flexable enough to accept what we have. :D

One more thing. If you send someone a PM, unless he has a certain option selected, he will never know he got it. I seem to recall when we first went to this format, people kept asking me if I got their PMs. I didnt have something selected so I never knew they were comming. Unless its changed, it could have contributed to this. If this is still true, maybe the default setting should be that the person is notified upon signing on.

I think little red toy has a great idea. If certain information was required before a post was allowed, it would stop a lot of misunderstandings or just plain violations. If the person posting didn't fill in all the required info, the post wouldn't work untill they did. It would also make life easier on the mods, because they would't have to read them all to make sure that they comply with the rules. Just my :2cents: .

This form would not have worked ...... as the original post was in the general section not the for sale section. Probably, a situation like this will not occur again for a long time. I mean where a post is moved by one person and deleted by another person. Just one of those things.

Your post in that thread reads:
"Please Post a location in your Ad. It is a site rule.......Thanks. Nice car (y) "

Now THAT'S an example of how I think the mmb.maverick.to should be
represented (IMHO). You politley got your message across and gave
him a compliment. Mission accomplished and with no hard feelings. (y)

Now..... about the theme color of this message board.... :evilsmile

    All,

I never read the original post and don't know the situation and I prefer to stay out of that. But, I just met Jlmnjem today - I won one of his Ebay auctions. He told me in person that all the Maverick parts he posted here were meant to be GIVEN away. He was upset that there was such a negative reaction when all he was doing was trying to benefit us Maverick guys.

HE SAVED the 4 door Maverick from the crusher just to pull off the last few parts that were good. Alot of people would have let it go to the crusher as it was. If there were more guys like him, we'd have more Maverick parts!

I spent several hours at his shop, talking old Fords amongst other stuff. Jlmnjem is a great guy and I appreciate his effort and dedication to Fords. I think he should be acknowledged for trying to save parts and taking the time to search out a Maverick site where he could post an ad. :tiphat: I'm kind of dissapointed that he was run off because of misuderstood rules or whatever the reason, when all he was doing was trying to benefit other car guys.

I'm not trying to point fingers or blame anyone, because I didn't ever read the original post. I'm not sure what was said or what happened and would prefer to stay out of whatever was going on. But as a result of the event, I'm not sure whether we'll see him back here again. That's too bad, because he's alot like the rest of us.

I just wanted to post a reply so everyone understood what his true intentions were. I hope in didn't upset anyone else in the process. :90:
