    83 351w rebuilt (stock bore)(stock dished pistons)
    2000-4000 cam (472/496 lift- adv. dur. 280/290-

    home ported 302 heads (58.2cc)
600 cfm 4bbl (is this big enough ?)
C4 w/BM kit (haven't decided on stall yet)
stock 300 rear w/ mini spool (anybody got used 3.55 or 3.80 for sale ?)

is this going to be a street or strip car? i would think the carb would be a little small. i'd at least go to a 650. your also going to be limited by the 300 rear. if it is to be a street/strip car than i think i'd go at least 3.80, unless your going to do a lot of freeway driving. jmo:)

This is just going to be an occasional cruizer. Maybe to the track one time for curiosity. Other than that, planned on going to local cruise ins and terrorizing neighborhood ricers.

I would estimate: since your pistons are stock and low compression, you could be looking at 250 to 280HP with that cam... approximately, a good running 5.0..

Nobody has answered, I would guess, because we (I) are not sure what you are asking.

I will try, but my knowledge is limited. But, what will happen is many will respond to my misguided suggestions, and you will likely get the info you are looking for, so take my info with a grain of salt...

If it was a 302 with that setup, I would say 150HP, 70 mph in the 1/8th @ 10 seconds.

    with the 351, I will guess 200 HP, 75 mph @ 9 seconds.

And the 600 cfm should be fine.

Remember, these are guesses to get the masses responding... :D

edit--oops, took me so long to type it that someone else responded.

I agree. And if you don't hunt up a gear, some of those ricers may be terrorizing you.600 holley is fine, you're not moving much air with that cam anyway.Go with 2000-2500 stall and at least 3.55's out back.

Post the timing degrees that the intake valve opens and closes and the exhaust valve opens and closes. Post what intake manifold you are using. I will put the data in my Desktop Dyno Basic and give you a real good approximation.

Headers? What size? What size exhaust? Full length or dumps?

Should be somewhere around 8.5:1 compression ratio, assuming good intake and exhaust, about 225hp. That is an Edel or Edel-alike cam, right?

You shouldn't need that much of a converter, the advertised duration is larger than most manufacturers state for a cam with relatively low .050 duration. Its a good torque cam, not much revving to it. Should wake up a 351 well, give you more power than stock, a little chop to the exhaust, but nothing serious. It isn't going to be a horsepower monster, but it'll be damn strong.
