wiring harness for a 302

    OK guys I have been reading over this site for a while now, I am getting ready to do a 302 swap, I have some questions about the wiring?? what will I need to do to make it work, I have never anything like this,, all new to me... and the other is what do I need to change, :huh:

    Should be all the same. May need to extend the wires but thats about all I can think of wire wise.

    search wiring harness on this site somebody has put the site that has all the wiring diagrams on it, a good site to look at to do this swap i just got done useing it for mine

    ok thanks not to sound like a dumba.. but how much time am i looking at to change out the motor and do i need to change out the cross memeber for the motor it self I currently have a 250 in it now, :confused:

    There is no cross member on with the 6 cylinder. Wouldn't be a bad idea to install one with a V8 though. They aren't easy to come by though, I got lucky and found mine in the local Pull-A-Part for $6.

    As far as time, it would take a good day to pull the 6 cylinder out if you have never done it before. Another 2-3 days, maybe longer to get the 302 in and running. Then you gotta get a new exaust and stuff put on. Generally doing something like this takes twice as long and twice as much money as you originally think. I would plan on haveing the car down for at least a couple of weeks.

    crossmembers are usually available on ebay or ask in the parts wanted section here. we have members who deal in maverick parts. there's also a tranny crossmember for duel exhaust. not a necessity, but might help. don't forget the 302 engine and frame mounts if you don't have them already.:)

    hey it took me about twenty hours total all by myself to take the 302 out of 1 car plus parts i needed for the swap and remove the 6 out and put all the stuff back in with the wiring up and running.then i went back and change hoses, belt and other such thing. i think that was a little long for me but i'm alot older then i usta be[use to be][ lol] but i did have everthing i needed on the parts car:drink: :drink: :drink: :drink: :drink: :drink: x 4.

    Yea, it's nothing if you have done it before. But if you haven't then it's better to take your time and get it right.
