The Ford 100 year celebration was great. It seamed there were 2000 show cars. All kinds of Fords from 1903 to 2003. The only car I didn't see was a Pinto but I was told there was a Pinto wagon there! There were some Maverick there. I saw a 71 Grabber Green Maverick Grabber with 17000 miles! It was orginal and had a 6 cyl automatic with a bench seat. The car was perfect and many people were checking it out. There were cars from all over this country. I was able to talk with many people and how they drove there cars many miles to get to Dearborn, MI. It was imposible to see everything as we walked for a long time. I was suprised that many cars are still orginal, unrestored, 25-30 year old cars. More than I thought there would be. I was an event I will never forget. I had to go up north north to visit my dad for Fathers day, a two day trip. For this reason I didn, enter my 74 Maverick Grabber. I wish I would have though! There were about 800 Mustangs! O! Where I parked our car in the spectator parking lot, there was a 75 Maverick behind us, a blue 2 door with a hoodscoop that said 302 Ford! I was in nice shape! Joe Riggio
Sounds like a great time. Amazing that a Mav happened to park behind you in the lot! I wish I was a little closer to the happenings over there. Oh well, sounds like a great time was had by all. -Corbin
Heh...I KNEW I saw a green small bumpered Maverick on channel 7 when they were doing a spot on the news from there last Friday...I wish I could have made it, but I just didn't have the time....and the sad thing is that I work right across the street from the "Glass House", Ford World Headquarters...well at least I worked on my Mav a bit as a tribute! Was the Maverick on display actually owned by Ford? From what I heard, they had 101 cars on display to represent one year from Ford's last 100 years(the 101st maybe being an early '04?). I am imagining that the Mav represented 1970 since it was billed as the "First car of the 1970's"....
