Hello, I like the 73 doors inside pannel and arm rest better than the 70-72 .I was woundering if the 73 internals will change out in A 70-72 door to make it look like a 73. I have 1 set of 73 doors but the driverside is damaged and i have 2 good sets of 70-72 doors thats way I am asking.

    Thanks Jim

    Jim,
Just completed swapping over the parts from a 73 door into a 70 door. Fairly simple if you have the 73 door for a template. The window regulator bolt holes have to be elongated and another hole added at the top for one of the regulator arms. You will also have to cut a hole for the inside door release and add a small peice of metal where the upper armrest screw attaches, I just cut the peice from the 73 door and welded it to the 70. I also indented the metal around the new holes as was done on the 73 door. Everything bolted up and works fine. It took about 1/2 hour to complete.

I prefer the '73-'77 doors as they have an internal reinforcment bar for side impact protection. They will fit any year Maverick or Comet...

I believe only the 1970 doors didn't have the reinforcement.
