I have a 71 and a 70 ford maverick and I am needing to change the steering column in both of them. Does anyone know where you can get a replacement steering comlumn or if another car will work?\

    Help

I don't think any of those symptons would be fixed with a steering column replacement.

Looseness is the steering box. Key cylinder power sounds like a wiring issue. Shifter being off is a linkage problem.

the key power comes from a switch at the bottom of the colum. there is a lever that operates it. the key in the colum has no power running to it...frank...:bouncy:

The shifter being off is pretty normal. I have found that it is basically impossible to get the orange thing to point directly at the letter and still have the car go into all gears. It also could need the little plastic bushing things replaced in the linkages if the there is excess play in the shifter.
