Wow that sounds like alot more work than I was hoping for:49: , but if the RCI dont work I guess the hookers are the only solution. Hope you get ahold of them soon, tell them you can sell another set for them if they fit nice!!:clap:I second the group discount!!!!!!!!!

We need an "update" to the 1-3/4 Head Update thread. A spread sheet would be nice to reference (matrix of possibilites w and w/o certain features on the car (ps, 3 on tree, automatic/manual, top loader, etc).

I just know someone here wants to do that for us. :D

Well, I think i've decided that the next set will be custom or a modified version of the Hooker 6208......the "pinch down" at the flange is what kills these headers.

I was checking out Kook's website yesterday...
I noticed that they will build headers for you at their shop.
Then when they have a pattern, they will sell them on their site.
Too bad they are in New York.

Anyone from New York want to have Kooks make their headers so the rest of us can order a set? :D
Make them 1.75" primary and clear the equalizer bar.
Oh yeah, if they make them in 8 separate tubes with a tabbed collector, that will make them easy to install.

I have asked that before and got no response.
Probably have to call Tubular and see what they say.
I am sure they probably won't work because Tubular would have them listed for a Mav if they did. They aren't shy.

Ya, I called them but they where not sure if they would clear or not. I really like the individual tubes for installation, they said I could call them back if they needed a diff. bend made or could just send them back for full refund If they were not dimpled. I think I'm going to try this if I don't hear otherwise. Anymore feedback?????????

    Cool!
What are those headers going for now?

I have thought about trying them, but what gets me is the fact that early Stangs had more room between the firewall and the back of the engine. The shock towers are no wider apart... so they use the extra space behind them to stuff the header tubes. Okay until you try to put them in a Mav with less room in that area.
Not trying to discourage, just pointing that out.

$460.00 , he said that they will take them back if they dont fit as long as they are not dented or dimpled, scratches are to be excpected. He also said if little alteration needs done he could bend it different if we described problem!:29:

Crites Restoration has 1 3/4" full length headers for Mavs with 302 or 351W. When I talked to them they said that the headers fit without any mods to the headers, or car (even 70s). They clear the steering gear box, idler arm and everything else. They list for $329. When I get to that point I will order a set and see if the claim is true.

I'm gonna have to buy me a set of those Crites ones. I emailed them for some information. If I get them I'll let you guys know how they fit.
