This year's Ford show and swap in Pensacola is fast approaching.
My uncle is taking a trailer of Mav/Comet and Fairlane parts to the swap.

I will go to see the show, of course. No entries.

I hope to see Ray there again this year.

Is anyone else in a position to attend?

Last weekend in March of every year.

Starts Friday am, goes until Sunday pm.

Free to attend, 35 bux for a swap spot, 35 bux to enter a car in the sale lot, around 80 bux to enter a show car.
    Dave

Where is it located? I don't know if I'll be able to go, but will have to wait and see.

    University Mall parking lot.
On Davis Hwy, within sight of I-10, in Pensacola.
There are motels all over that exit and around the mall parking lot (adjacent just to the north, between the interstate and mall lot.
Last weekend in March, 25-27 this year.

Sure would like to see some of you guys come down. Tom Longerbeam came down from Ga last year and he and I were the only Maverick and Comet there, other than a Maverick in the pony corral for sale. It's always a great show with tons of parts for sale.

I won't be bringing the Mav...
The clutch is out on it. :(
I have too many other things going on right now to get it done before the show.
    I will be there though.
    Can't wait!

I had a little time to do a follow up on this thread...

    Saw Ray at the show.
It's nice to chat with someone that has the same interests!
That 'new' Maverick he has is drop dead gorgeous!
Would look sweet with a small bumper swap IMO.

I didn't have much dough to spend this year, so I didn't wheel and deal as much as usual.
The vendor selection seemed a bit thin this year to me as well.
I got word that I should go to Moutrie show next time it comes up. So I might have to upgrade to a bigger swap meet.

    I picked up a small cam/lifter set for 120.00.
It included a 218/.488 cam, lifters, and matched springs. All new in the box. Lunati...
Then I went back to the same vendor the next day and got several gasket sets (intake, etc...) along with a new in the box FMS double roller timing chain for 40 bux.
Got a 3310-3 Holley for 5 bux! My first purchase of the show. Just can't walk away from that... chrome line and all.
The -3 Holleys are a little less desireable for all the plastic parts, but they do have PV protection and the plastic is easy to swap off. This one has never been into and looked new except for a heavy layer of dust. This one will be cake to refresh and have a very good carb.

My clutch is still out on my Sprint... Couldn't find anything at the show that would help. I need the clutch stuff and a shifter since I refuse to take the tranny out and not put my 4 speed back in it's place.
With the car still just hangin out in the garage, I decided to do a quick cam/spring swap. I had all the parts.
Well, nothing ever seems to go easy as it should...
My stock plastic cam gear was toast... no problem.
However when I got the gear off, I saw chunks of babbit behind the cam retainer. :(

The front cam bearing was disintegrating!
I have to buy a full set of bearings (20 bux) to get the front bearing.
So the car is just sitting again.

We looked at the bearing and determined that when the engine was built, they were a little ham handed installing that bearing and probably fractured the babbit surface.
All the flakes were in place and never spun under the cam surface. They had obviously been riding there for years. The reason we think the damage occurred when the engine was built is because the oil passage was noticably distorted from a front impact like a bearing install tool that was carelessly used. The edges of the bearing were riding a little high too, yet there was nothing to impact them since Ford put it together.
    Anyway...
I refuse to pull the engine. I know it will turn into a full tilt boogie project if I do, and I don't have the time or money for that yet. When I do it all the way, I want to be ready to do it all the way!

Anyway, sorry if I missed anyone at the show.
    It's always fun.
I will be checking for info on the Moultrie show!
    Gotta hit that one next.
    Dave
