heres the latest problem with my car: Now i can turn on the car and change gears without it turning off, but here's the thing: I trun onm the car, put on drive, press the gas pedal, and the car does not move. WHat i mean by this is i press the gas pedal and i can hear the engine revving, but no movement. i think the trans might be stuck in park or neutral. The car has the passenger rear tire flat also, so maybe the car doesnt have enough power to move it. I later found out that the trans had no oil at all because the transmission pan has a hole in it and all of the oil leaked out. COuld this problem be caused because the transmission has no oil? Or could it be the worse thing im thinking of: I need a new trans????!?!!?!!!! I really hope not!
an automatic uses the fluid to transfer engine torque into forward motion. do not run it anymore until you put in fluid and a new pan, or you may fry your tranny if it isnt too late. once it has fluid, then try again. then check the fluid a couple times after you get it right.
with no or low tranny fluid the car will not move at all. don't run the car like that or you could hurt the tranny. get another oil pan and put some tranny fluid in and try it again. also fixing the tire would be easier on everything.
If there's not enough fluid to even spin the input shaft, I'd think no harm no foul. Hopefully the trans is alright. Replace the pan, fillerup and let us know what happens.
Like everyone else said, no ATF = no go. When you get it back together refill it with Type F Automatic Transmission Fluid or Dexron/Mercon III
ok cool thanks everyone, and I hope my transmission isnt messed up ill tell yall what happens in a week or so because I need to get the oil pan first
