sorry to say,but these cars go for more with a v8 transplant.mavericks haven't hit the "highly sought after"status...yet.(except for us who love'em)more than likely, when they do,you'll still pull more dough after a v8 swap, disc brakes etc.unless it's an all orig.sprint or stallion(those are the one's i personally would not alter, except for a disc brake swap)i say swap in a v-8 disc, and some gears and have some fun!
Put in a 6 cyl truck engine with an aftermarket cross flow head to replace the no-flow head. Then it'll run more better.
I still think if it's a maverick it's a maverick if it's a grabber it's a grabber, It really depends on the shape it's in. If their was a mav in mint cond, and mav with a v8 in it that was'nt a grabber around here you would get more for the originality in a car show . proven fact.
And you can't beat up a 170, 200 ,250, everyone knows that these were one of fords best motors ever made, just can't kill them, or beat'em up.
No... a 6 cylinder Maverick will NEVER be worth as much as a V8 Maverick, no matter what the car originally had in it. THAT is a proven fact.
you might wanna rephase that... to most... cuz if the v8 looks like crap and the I6 is mint..... well
we are the "maverick enthuists" i would take a slightly rougher (not rotted out) v8 over a 6cyl. some have to have a "grabber". my grabber ("73) came with a flat hood, bench seat and a 6cyl. auto. i bought it because it was a maverick, didn't find out it was a grabber untill i got it home..."maverick enthuist"...frank...
Car shows don't know "jack" about what came in a mav. ..except...Boss 302, 4 speeds and "was a Grabber GT" ...frank...
