Hey all. after all the post and brain picking that i have done, my wife and I have agreed that the best thing to do it to rebulid the 200 in my mav...
I need to know few things first... 1. how do i know if my cylinder wall have not been bored without sending it to a machine shop. 2. where is the best place to get the master rebuild kit without breaking the bank. and 3. can i be done in the car if so how hard is it to do.

Yes rebuild the 200, and if you are not the one going to rebuild the engine then your engine builder will know if it's been bored already or not, kanters is pretty cheap for a rebuild kit. Great ideal that your rebuilding the 200 keep up the good work,

I don't know , how to tell without pulling the head off, when you do this, measure the cylinder wall, then get a chilton's 70 to 77 maverick book or you might be able to call a local machine shop and ask them for the factory specs for the cylinder wall hole, thats the only way I know how to tell if you find out how to tell without removing the head let me know.

The 200 had a 3.680 bore diameter. You'll have to pull the head and use a dial bore gauge or inside micrometer to measure the cylinders. You also need to measure for cylinder taper and out-of-round.

    Here is a rebuild kit:

Depending what needs done it's not impossible to be done in the car, but if the cylinders need bored/honed or the main saddles need align honed you'll have to take the block to a shop. Have you rebuilt an engine before? It's fun and rewarding, I love doing it, but you can spend a lot of money on specialized tools and measuring instruments. If you're only gonna rebuild one motor you're better off takeing it to a shop.
