 Hi everybody, my father-in-law told about a 72' comet GT for $350.00, located about 45 minutes from my house. I went and looked at it today and found it is complete minus the engine, it looks like it has been sitting about ten years. The trunk lid and both quarters are rusted through but the floor pans and the rest of the car is solid with a few small dents here and there. The tan interior is pretty well worn but it is complete and has the high back bucket seats. What I wanted to know is, do you guys think that something like this is restorable or is it better off as a parts car, sorry no pics are available. Btw the comet has front disks brakes but my 72' grabber has drums were they an option?
Sounds like a good price. Could possibly be restoreable. Hard to tell without pics. Sounds like someone did the manual disc brake conversion. The first year for the factory manual disc option, was 1974. Good luck...
Buy it!!!! Reproduction quarters are available and trunk lids are a dime a dozen. Does it have a decent hood and grill? These can be hard items to find. Does it still have the GT hood scoop?
Buy it, and let me know the door data tag info and I will add it to the Comet GT registry for you. Seth redcometgt@aol.com
The grill and hood are in great shape but the hood does not have a scoop on it. I copied the vin number yesterday so here it goes, 2F31F554877 /body-62b/ color-6f/trim LF/ Trans-w/axle-3/dso-21 Thanks, Eli
