thanx; I had originally bought for a Mustang II that I owned; but the guy I sold it to didn't want it so I put it on the Comet just to see how it looked and thought it looked great so I kept it on there.
That looks GREAT,Fits your car very well, But I couldn't pass up an origional for $25.00 ha ha. Could sell my factory Boss/Torino/Cyclone one I guess and buy one of those (or mabye two..)
Does anyone have pics of comets or mavricks with a mustang/ couger spoiler. I would like to see what it would look like on one of those cars to see if i want to put one on my car, expecialy a 73 comet. Thanks
I put a '70-'73 Camaro spoiler on my '77. I don't have the big bumpers back on there, yet. However, I selected this spoiler based on how it looked with the big bumpers. Here's pics: http://pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/thehawkco/album?.dir=/d6fdre2&.src=ph&.tok=phaaF7EBo8MnDaYB
so i take it those big three peice ducktail type fins dont work on our cars like from a Mustang King Cobra or various GM models?? i like your car cometgt74
actually the 70-72 grabber models came with one. check out my gallery or dan hines' and you should be able to see it. if not, i hope to update mine soon. you can even get them in carbon fiber if you contact maverick man.
thats right if you want one i have one CF one left. i should have more fiberglass ones in a few months as soon as i can get away doing everything else! someone got a way to make the day a 28 hour day!
Keep in mind that the Mustang had 2 versions. The 69-70 was wider at the spoiler, but the mount brackets were closer together. The 71-73 had the narrower spoiler wing, and the brackets were further apart. Closer to the outside of the car... The 69-70 also had taller brackets, so the spoiler sits higher off the trunk lid. Just a heads up because the look is totally different from one to the other version when you try them on the same body style. When you mount them to the trunk, you also need to know that they originally used stiffeners on the inside of the trunk lid for strength. Fwiw: Torinos/Fairlanes never came with a wing spoiler... unless you got it off the King Cobra. Eliminators and Cyclones most likely used the 70 Stang version because they sit up very high. 69 Stangs, even Bosses, never came with wing spoilers. The MCA made an exception years ago to allow them on 69 Stangs as 'original' because they could be had over the parts counter in 69. Effectively making them a 'dealer installed option'. But true factory, NO. Doesn't make sense to me. You could get frickin deer whistles over the counter from some dealers. Does that mean they should be considered stock? Dave
You gotta make the part stiff because of the multiple penetrations involved in the process. You could weaken the lid structure...
stiff: Adjective Inflected forms: stiff·er, stiff·est 1. Difficult to bend; rigid. 2. a. Not moving or operating easily or freely; resistant: a stiff hinge. b. Lacking ease or comfort of movement
