Alright, I've done alot of searching and everyone just says convert to floor shift when getting headers, but I want to keep my column shift. I know it can be done, there was a Mav on ebay with headers and column shift auto, and it was mentioned on here that someone did it using Blackjack headers. The Blackjacks are listed as fitting with a column shift a/t. Sooo... who on here has headers on an column shift a/t or has experience with the blackjacks? Also, if things need modified to make it work, I have a welder and know how to use it. (y)

    Thanks,
    Jon

JonnyRebel, I think I might have some info about modifing linkage to work, Let me look monday and I'll get back to you. Someone else may be able to give you an answer off the top of their head. I think it is as easy as shortening some linkage or something I'll double check for you. Also do a search here. Pretty sure i've seen pics before on the subject.

hey thanks, I'll appreciate any info very much.
I have searched and searched but found no real answers.

Anybody ever use the blackjack headers? Whats your opinion on them? I'm probably gonna get them since they are $109.

Well found the info but I dont have a scanner so i'll have to get them to ya via snail mail. Just pm me with your addy and I'll send it to ya. These instructions are for another type of header but should still apply,I think you can use them as a guide. As far as Blackjacks are concerned....they serve their purpose, dont know about fit. Price is right. I'm pretty sure that the "coating" they use is a shipping paint (they will be glossy) so they dont rust and is,by no means, high temp. If you can sand blast them, wipe with acetone and paint with vht paint or equivalent or better yet ceramic coat them, it'll be much better for ya. Let me know. Jamie

Most of us use Hooker 6901s or hedman 88300. headers.. I'm working rite now on 2 solutions to this problem of a column shifted car with headers.. It will take some time as my car is in the body shop and then I have to install all the engine, trans etc. As soon as I have it figured out I will post pics and as much info as I can.. Will also send the same info to Dennis for the Mag. My car hopefully will be back on the road by June 15th/06(y)

I'm running into the same problem with my column shift Mav . I guess I'll just run my stock manifolds for now with flowmasters until we find more info. Jim

Thanks Maverick 5946 for the article. I might deal with this later because Drag season starts this weekend and need to get my Comet and Mustang ready. Jim

I remember parting out a Torino wagon several years ago that had a cable instead of linkage. It was a 351Cleveland with a C6 if I remember right. It hooked to the linkage on the column and then down to the tranny. I don't know if this was factory or if somebody had rigged it. It might be an option to look into.....
