stmansr; I am in eastern Ia and frequent Cordova with the mav on occasion, can not make it over on Fri but let us know if you or any other mavs will be over at some other time.Herb.
halebopp, a test and tune is usually where anyone can go and run there car. usually on an off race day so you can run as much as you want and make adjustments or try new things out. at our track they usually have a gamblers race for anyone that wants to get in. sometimes people that haven't raced before try it then and get some experience. it's fun.
Some say we are I.diots O.ut W.alking A.round HA.. I say we are just bored out of our minds trying to find something to do besides go to Bars and Movies . Hope we can get a meet set up and meet some of you guys :Handshake . Promise not to use the word Howdy!
test and tune is 15 bucks i think.. for all day cordova is in cordova iowa.. take i-80 east to illionois.. from iowa take exit 1 on illionois side which is hwy 84 head towards port byron and keep going down 84 for about 15 miles i think... go through a few cities and then go through cordova, 3 miles past cordova city is cordova race track.. hwy 84 is 55 then 45 then 35 then 55 all the way.. so be careful.. there might be a cop hanging out somewhere.. im not sure if i can make it this friday... but if we pick a date some time in may.. we should all try and show up and since i now know the operators (since i went to the volunteer day) i bet we could manage a race off with our mavericks... have a mini gambler session... we shall see..
stmanser; Did you go to Cordova on the 15th, because if you help on volunteer day you get to race FREE on opening day!It is a cool way to get people involved in helping keep up the track and Scott and Laura always do there best to make everyone feel welcome. We are planing to go sometime toward the end of May.Does anyone else have a preference on a date?Oh and by the way, Mav grudge races sounds like fun but spankin chevs and rice grinders is just the total cats ass.
I may be able to go at the End of May I am checking the months for if I have anything going on. I won't be running my Comet but I will drive it there.
Ok I have jotted down your names and handles, Rad Mav what is your name so I can follow who I am talking to? If you don't mind giving it. Incidentally my name is Kevin.
Ok Iowa and Iowa Neighbors, who all are racers? Personally I don't race, not even close to being able to do that without embarrassment. Which of you guys would come up to get together to meet sometime , we have a proposal on the board to go to Cordova.. Maverick 1970 are how far are you from Iowa? do you ever get up here? name?
I know of 2 dates I'll be at cordova this year for sure. june 24th for the thunderfest slingshot nats ,and august 26th for the world series of drag racing. other dates its hard to say for any certainty right now. I'm not currantly a member so I dont think I'm eligible to be at a mini meet. if this is a "club" thing you should post in the club section, and the club officers or who ever can help you organize it and promote it for you.
Nothing to do with MCCI ,Simon just mentioned he'd be at Cordova, so it rolled into a possible way to meet some guys in and around Iowa who frequent this site. We were looking at a possible date when we could meet some people on this site.
I am from Moline, IL, which is right across the river from Davenport/Bettendorf IA. Even tho I dont currently have a maverick (had one in the 80's, but sold it), I wouldnt mind meeting up with some guys from the site. Our car club, www.quadcitiescruisers.org usually puts on a classic car show at Cordova once a year. If I can get the date for 06, Ill post it. Glen
71 Maverick, yeah this is basically just an informal thing not realted to MCCI I just had the idea to meet some guys here, side bar I am looking into MCCI rep info for Iowa But the discussion here would be an informal thing to meet people from the site. That qaudcities cruizers thing looks interesting wht kind of car do you have now, are you active in QC?
