took the oil out of the motor the other day. only had 5 quarts of synthetic so i had to get 5 more in town. the car holds 9 quarts. i pulled the drain plug again today in case any more oil had settled. the bolt has a magnet and attached to it came a piece of u-shaped wire. i looked at it and thought it looked like a lifter keeper. when i broke a rocker arm stud and lifter about a month ago, i kept the lifter and it had about 2/3 of the keeper with it. i broke another rocker arm stud but i thought the lifter was okay. i pulled the intake manifold off and looked at the lifter where that stud was and it had no keeper in it. i was just lucky the whole lifter didn't come apart and go through the engine. i changes the stud out before the last t&t and race. i went 10 passes like that at over 7000 rpm. :slap:

According to MY math, 5+5=9 (plus the stuff needed to replace what drips out over the course of a week or two) :D

Mobile 1 5w30 from Wally World...that's how I buy it too. I run that stuff in everything. Can't beat it.

Later Don, and I'm looking forward to meeting you at the RoundUp!

Take Care, and wear 'em out on the left side of the Rockies.

maxx, mobil 1 5-30 is what i use too. my wife called me one day at the track and asked what i used. she said walmart had the mobil 1 5-30 fully synthetic on a clearance table. the 5 qt jugs for $10 each. she said they had 5 of them. i had her get all 5. i started going around to the other walmarts then but no one else had them. :)

jamie, sorry but i'm the king of the slackers around here. just ask my wife.:rofl2:
