Well after working off and on for the last 18 months she is finally painted. I have a whole new respect for resto work. I sanded my &^% off , helped (where I could ) and watched this guy put his talents to work. Hat's off to all you guys out there who do this. I'll get some more pictures and post them later since all the one's I do have are too large cause I had the wrong setting on the camera Stay Tuned!
Looks great. Whish I had a paint booth like that. I love to paint but I hate body work. Is the car going to be all white?
Thanks guys! Camera setting was too high of a resolution when I took pictures of the body so the file wouldn't fit. I have pictures right after painting and will get some posted tonight. It will be white/black stripes. I did find the original reflective black/orange stripes to put on. Yes the facility, Excalibur Auto Restoration in Willoughby,Oh. is a top notch facility, has a top notch paint booth ..and trust me we changed every filter in there before painting the car My brother-in-law has done all the work on the car and he claims he is a metal fabricator and not a painter but man he makes it look all so easy. Body work..It's got to be in your blood to do it. It's hard! One thing I must say the car was just about rust free and in immaculate condition so no patches were put in ,just a lot of blocking. He put on four coats of paint ...Four coats of clear...I can't wait until it's sanded and rubbed. I have just about everything to finish the car except carpet( idea as to where to buy) and a few odds and ends. The 351C was tore down a few days ago and sent out to be checked because once that thing is placed in the engine bay I don't want to pull it out to fix something that could have been avoided.
Is this car the Holman Moody car you have listed in your profile? Perhaps I am thinking of a different car but was your car the gold/black mint conditon Holman Moody car? Or is this a different car you are restoring?
Hey Dan - Yes it is...and we'll talk about the Holman-Moody thing as soon as the engine comes back from the shop. This thing ran like a rocket ship but I have my doubts that it was built by HM.
