Finally getting around to finishing up the floor shift conversion in my 4-door. I have the floor shift collars for the steering column but just wondering, is there a lock rod or something that's required to keep the lower collar from turning when the steering wheel is turned?

The factory setup still had a rod connected to the steering column so the collar turns when you shift the floor shifter. This way the steering wheel locks when you put the floor shifter in park.

That's what I suspected. Anyone got an extra one they wouldn't mind parting with? I assume they were probably a Mav/Comet specific part, and not easy to find at the wrecking yards.

I know there is a way to permantly lock the collar in the park position. I have done this to both my cars but its been years ago and I dont remember how I did it without having it sitting in front of me. If you dissassemble it and look it over, I think you'll find it is fairly simple to do.

    Hey guys,

I am looking at doing this (converting my column shift to a floor shift automatic) on my 70 Mav. Being kind of new to this does anyone have some pointers or a description of what they did? I can use all the help I can get! It's got a C4 automatic on a 250 striaght six.
