Here is a pretty good shot that my wife snapped. Far lane is me and near lane in the one and only WillieSHOme. Dan
I love that...either way a Maverick wins! Now what kind of times did you guys run?? I know alot of you are just getting back home tonite But I`ve been waiting to see those pics and hopefully VIDEOS from the round up. I especially want to see the footage of Purple70 vs.CometGT1974 !
There are tons of pics of this stuff, as people get home I am sure they will post them. Cars ran anywhere to 10 secs to 17 secs. Lots of fun for sure!!!!!! Dan
CometGt1974 had to come without his car he had some last minute problems and Barney(and this only works if you hear that special little song I love you.....)aka purple70 had a starter failure but he fixed it and was back on friday night........heck even dan and dinnes were doing the pit crew thing replacing a bad mount on dans car so he could rip that (extreemly nice!!!!!!) stalion of his they had 15 cars show up for the drags we forgot our digital camera at the hotel but I must say that the best seats in the house to watch the action was in the middle at the staging line
Here everybody was afraid that you would barely have 10 cars to race when fifteen raced and two sat out! Hope you guys had fun!
What can I say about Drag night? Almost 4 hrs of open track. I know Doug must have made at least 30 passes. Basically you could make a pass as fast as you can get from the finish line to the starting line. Try that at your local drag strip. It cost us $33 each. I probably spent at least 45 minuits helping Dan put a motor mount in his car and still made almost 20 passes. I built my Sprint to run mid 12's. I figured it would take some doing to get there with street tires and I didnt make it. 13.02 @ 108 mph was the best I could do. 1st gear was nothing but tire spin no matter how I left the line. My 60ft times were 2.2. A good set of slicks will definately put me where I want to be. It was a blast even though I made 2 dumb-ass passes. The first I tried to lanch in 3rd. Didnt work too well. The second was up against Dan and I forgot to turn on the fuel pump! Motor dosent work too well without it. I got a good hole shot but as soon as I hit 2nd, motor fell flat on its face. By time I hit the switch Dan was showing his tail lights and I couldnt catch up.
My car ran a best of 14.02. The 60 ft times in the 2.3 sec area show that I am losing traction at the start. While the new Dunlop tires are better than the old Mickey Thompsons, I still fried them and had to feather out of the hole. Next year I will have my subframe connectors moved and the Cal-tracs installed. Also I am going to mess with the Jets in the carb, which is new also. Car has run a best of 13.02 in the past. I just havent had time to tweek it yet. My goal is high 12's. Think I will put aluminum heads and a roller cam in it this winter. Dennis's sprint and mine were the only ones with 4 gears that were racing this year. Would be cool to get a good video of us racing next year. I for one can't wait and maybe we should do this twice a year. Florida in the winter anyone?????????????????? Dan
Hey Dan, please email me that picture and anyone else who has a pic of my car on the track please email me them at Mavaholic@aol.com Thanks a bunch!
track night was alot of fun eventhough my starter took a dump on me right before i went up to make my first nitrous pass im more disappointed i didnt get the chance to line up with that tangerine on roids' (Jim Allens orange mav) at the track,, oh well maybe next year...
Those pictures only fuel my motivation... Im only a few hours worth of work away from being able to turn my 351w mavrick on for the first time and let her rip.... I am soooo pumped up!!!
It truly was awesome seeing maverick against maverick. It was cool how the guys got together after a couple of runs ans started pairing off with cars that had similar times. It was a GREAT weekend! Next year Dennis gets to drive my car, maybe even with the little blue bottle in the back!
