Hey weirdone, it's not a radiator problem is it? Do you have a shroud? How fast does it heat up? Can you run it (after inital start up, when cold) without the radiator cap? How does the cap look? Does it still have the rubber seal in it? What are the RPM's when idiling?

 

i can turn it on and run it with out the cap, the cap is brand new, the radiator is 3 yrs old. then im drivng it hits roughly 180. in the afternoon pending how hot anywhere from 190-205. hottest its been is 220. it barely startin doing this after i got it all rebuilt. b4 i have never ran hotter then 180. i dont kno the rpm's but do kno they r still going up n down. when at a stop u can see the oil pressure go up n down n feel the car wanna jump the gun.
im to tired to figure it out, i need my batteries recharged.
i do know for sure i got a vaccum leak and my carb is messed up and my heating n a/c is screwed upp too lol i need help!!

 

:deadhorse I'm dizzy from trying to follow those vacuum lines. I'll try to find my book on them, but may have been lifted when I used to work at pep dumazzes. I'm thinking you could use a can of carb cleaner and mist around the carb base and hose connections and stuff to see if the idle is affected. If the idle is too high then you might not be able to tell, that's why I was asking about the idle. Some guys like to use water to do the misting by the way but I personaly think you get better results with carb cleaner and you also get a carb that LOOKS clean. Be carefull where you spray too, don't spray any ignition stuff.

It looks like something(a switch?) is missing on that ac line at the firewall.

 

well during my parents harley memorial day party i was working on my car with a buddy. come to find out that i accidentally closed the valve leadin to the heater core and that a idleing rod thingy on the back of the carb does not work and that i blew out my own front turn signals when i had the crazy electrical mishap 2 months ago where i blew my alternator and radio. im clueless when it comes to electrical stuff, freaks me out, i have been shocked to many times by live wires.

so on monday during the memorial day discounts at the local auto dismantler i will b lookin for some stuff. im going shoppin boys lol

 

Another magazine sighting (This time a Comet)

I just goy my July issue of Hot Rod magazine and on page #47 there's a 77 Comet and a paragraph about how the more common classics are beginning to come up in value. The Comet they mention is a bone stock 27,000 mile car that recently sold at Barrett-Jackson for $10,260. I wonder what it would have gone for if it was an older small-bumper car?

 

could try taking brake clean and spraying around all the vacuum lines, thats the easiest way to find a vacuum leak in my opinion

sounds like you may have found the cause of the rough running and overheating. hope you find the parts to fix it.

 

i hope so too, theres only 3 auto dismantlers open to the public in fresno that i know of, some r private and they gotta look for u, i hate those.

o well ill b shopping for some parts on monday when they have like 50% all parts monday only, u know holidays, best time to buy parts

i bought my rear wing window from one of the get it for you guys there for about 30bux, they arent too bad if no one else has one.

 

thats some of them, the ones here price gouges big time. yeah some have parts the others dont have but i rather not buy the part then give up n arm n leg for it. but thats just me plus im brown i have family members who will just take it off another car lol

 

Are those the ones you can see from 99? I drive up to Merced alot and never have time to stop at those... can you tell me if they got mavs/comets after you go?

 

yeah those r the ones. last time i went there was 3 mavericks, ill see this time. hopefully theres some mavs or comets in there, ill let u know.
o my harley run was nice, i think i lost my butt somewhere a long the way.
