    1974 Mercury Comet
    Hello,

I now own a 1974 Mercury Comet. Car has 57,000 miles on it and it is in pristine condition.

Where can I get some facts about this car? Searching google did not help. I'd like to know things like production stats, basic fixes, where to get parts and accessories, paint codes, etc. etc. Value would also be something I am curious about.

    Thanks in advance,

    Jim

    Info on my 1974 Comet

    Hello,

Thanks for the warm welcome. Someone asked for some info. Here goes:

She's a 1974 two door automatic. Motor is a 250 c.i. straight six. No air, no a/c, no power anything. Color: pumpkin orange with a white top. Interior is almost 100% -- dash has two small cracks that form a v shape and are about three inches long on each leg. I will put a vinyl repair kit on that bad boy, then bath it in armor all! Could have gotten the origional vinyl tires when we bought her -- owner still had them. Have the origional owners manual and a record of every service done. Not bad for $1500.

Drove her home yesterday -- 600 mile trip. She just purrs at 75. No idea what it gets for gas mileage, did not caluclate. Father in law fixed the float in the tank but resulting work puts the needle inside off by 1/4 of a tank. We filled up at every town to be safe. I let my daughter drive and she only scared me to death three times. Not bad.

    Jim

Okay then, I'll just post as much stuff about the car as I can think of! That's teach 'em!

So I will start a new subject about salvage yards.

    Thanks again!

Welcome Jim, I pick up a 74 with 45K miles about 2 months ago. Its a 302, auto, with ac. Picture in Comet section, the lt blue one. Recently pick up some nos tail lens, hood emblem, windshield wiper arms. Waiting for some interior paint, to redo the panels.
