2 young kids, about 13yrs old, just knocked on my door and wanted to know if I wanted to sell my 71 Maverick. One of them, Todd, is looking for a Maverick to fix up for his 16th birthday. I thought that was pretty neat. I have to go look at a 70 sometime in the next week or so, so I told him he could buy it for whatever it cost me, if he wants to fix it up. I was probably going to use it for parts but I'd rather see it get fixed up. Hope its in good enough shape to make it worth while.

Yup, I ask him if his Dad knows and is going to help him & he said yes. I was just shocked that he even knew what a Maverick was.

When I got my first Mavrick a year ago, my dad seemed kind of dissapointed. So did a few of my friends. Since then I have got another Mavrick, and I am in the finishing touches of swapping a 351 windsor into my first Mavrick. My dad and all of my friends respect the Mavricks now, and think they have the potential to look great as well (when I finaly paint em heh).

To be honest I think alot of people like Mavricks, but think its a bad thing to admit it.

well me being 16 i can see where the kid is coming from. older cars are becoming more popular with certain crowds now a days. i know alot of kids that have older cars from my high school (duster, chevelle, stingray, and me mav and trans am ectect.) i have a feeling its on a nice rise but then again so are the rice boys.

There is a kid of about 16 or 17 working at the gas station I go to who is always after me to sell him my 76' Maverick. He doesn't care that it's a six banger either, he just wants a Maverick for himself. I have no plans on selling the 76' any time soon, but I told him I would keep an eye out for any others that turn up for sale. I'm really impressed by this guys determimation to own a Maverick and I hope he finds one. It's great to see the younger generation taking an interest in the Mavs and Comets. No ricers for these kids, they have good taste.:D

Actually Todd, that was my red 77' Maverick you were drooling over at Carlisle. We also have a primer grey 76' Maverick that is my daily driver. Believe me, that one isn't much to look at right now. It was my 77' that got the attention of the kid at the gas station and got him wanting to own a Maverick too.

That is a cool story, I am sure your car is what influenced him to want a maverick.

I am happy that a 13 year old knows what a Mav is.

I still get "look at the camaro" from people/kids who walk past my house when the garage door is up.
