which vesrsion of 351? W, or M? (I would ask about C but I dont think they ever found there way into a lincoln)

anyhow, if your expecting a drop in bolt up fit, they will require a fair amount of work, the M more than the W.

"can it fit"?...sure anything can fit,.... with enough time , work, ect.

If its an M, its not worth messing with. If the distributor comes out of the block, its an M. If it comes out of the intake, its a W.

    ????????????????????? Out of the intake????????????????????
As far as I know there are no W blocks that have a distributor comming out of the intake. They come out of the block like every other modern Ford engine.

Just look at the valve cover. If it has 8 bolts it is a C/M and if it has 6 bolts it is a W block.

Not trying to be rude, but up front and honest...

If you are asking these kinds of questions, it will likely be a very difficult job for you to swap the motor without some help from someone who has done it, or similar type of swap, before.

But, I in no way want to discourage you from trying...It might be a good learning experience for you, but definitely not easy. Go for it (y)

I have heard that the 351W goes in fairly easy, especially after notching the shock towers. It can be bored/stroked over to 400+ cubic inches. I think it bolts right up for the most part, with some different motor mounts. You would have to do a search on the forum, there should be plenty of info.

These engines can be had for $300 from any junk yard (Ford Econoline vans from the 90s, and others).

1st, you need to identify what engine you have before making any decisions. The non-W motors are supposedly a bit different and harder to install.

That is my :2cents: but I am by no means an expert on this.

The Windsor uses all the same stuff as a 302 including mounts.
It is a pure bolt in affair.
The only issue is the tight fit of the exhaust and routine plug changes.
Shaving the towers helps these issues, but does not rid them totally.

And how far is Angleton from Laredo? Probably too far to help in person. (EDIT: 389 miles according to Mapquest. that was going up to Houston and then over to San Antonio then down. I am sure jumping on 59 and going south would cut some time and mileage off your trip) :biglaugh: (y)

JUAN - since you are down in Laredo, could you bounce over to Mexico and see if you can find some Mavericks in Junkyards down there? Seriously.

Angleton to Laredo... I know the backroads through Corpus and staying closer to the coast is a little shorter. BUT, if it really is a 351W, I might be able to take a couple days in "the Valley" as a mini vacation, to help out and see the swap in progress. My wife would love to cross the border and do some furniture shopping...(already becoming an expensive trip  ).

I have been tossing this swap around in my mind for the past couple years, and already found 3 local motors ready to drop and swap.

You were thinking of the thermostat/water neck.
M is on the block, W is on the intake...
I thought you just made a typo by putting 'distributor'.
