I know I have seen some Mavericks with the one with insulated posts. I seem to recall the 1977 I am currently parting out has it. If it does...I will check it out.

Anything is possible, I started thinking that maybe I had changed it, even though I don't believe I did, so I went and took a good look at it. On one mounting flange it has the part# C9AF11450A and on the other Autolite P1ED (or P1E0..I can't quite tell right now, its dark under the hood....). So I think it is original. If I had changed it at any time other than within a few months of it being new the part more than likely would have said Motorcraft. So my vote is that it is original.

Oh ya, do you think the P1ED could be a date code?

C9AF would be a '69 part number. Intresting...

The Ford Parts Manual does list that as a valid part for all 65-71 Ford Cars ... suppose that's what the assembly line had in the parts bin that day ... cool ... I wonder if there is any benefit to running that style of the original. I assume it uses the same mounting holes on the fender apron.

Seems to be a better made piece. The one on my grandpa's Aerostar had 233,000 miles on it when I replaced it. And it is an exact replacement for the older style, because I put an older style on the Aerostar for a while until it, to, quit working.

I have been meaning to crack one open and compare the internals to an older style one, just haven't got around to it yet.

Perhaps they were not restored properly ... but a quick google image search does not show any 1969 428 CJ car engine compartments with that solenoid ...

I can't add anything more to the well-deserved "Wow" comments except, "Wee!".

Okay, what are the witness marks on the rear springs?

(p.s. I don't believe that is "Grabber Green", correct? What color code is it please? Very nice color whatever it is.)

    Look out Barret-Jack$on!

    Thanks Rick.

The springs were color coded with paint stripes according to their spring rates. Mine has the heavy duty suspension. Build sheets will show the colors of the stripes for both the front and rear springs, also for such things as sway bars etc. The color doesn't have a fancy name, just "Dark Green Metalic" code C.

Dan, it does use the same mounting holes.

I have seen that solenoid a couple of times. I think my 71 has it.

I have that same solenoid on my 90 Bronco 2.

    Okay. Extremely nice car. (y)

If he ever decides to part it out on the board here, I got dibs on:

    Hood
    Front and rear bumpers
    Engine
    Transmission
    Rear end w/springs
    Complete interior
    Disc brakes
    Brake booster w/master cylinder
    Grille
    Front turn signals
    Front valance
    Rear valance
    All 4 side marker lights
    Headlight Bezels
    Sport Lamp switch, if equipped.
    Radiator

Yep, that's about it. That's what I want. Anyone else need anything?

Seriously. Nice car. It must have been hard not taking it out for a drive or making it a daily driver. :drive:
