Would someone be able to post underhood pictures of a '72 Maverick or Comet with the 200" 6cyl? I am looking for details of the original air cleaner and induction equipment. Did these engines have a tube directing air from the rad support opening to the snorkel intake? This is for our race car and I have no idea what the set-up was. I am not allowed (by the rules) to use any form of non-original induction but would like to try the stock parts if they can be located.......thanks everyone.:mischeif:

My 72 Sprint did not have any air hose from the core support to the air cleaner when it was new.

Thanks guys. I have an old issue of Super Ford Magazine from 1988 with an article on a couple of drag race cars from the time. One was the then NHRA record holder in my class at 15.34 sec.(V/SA). The car was a '72 Comet GT with a 200" and the underhood shot shows an OEM appearing duct. The guy may have counted upon the tech guys being unaware of the non-originality.

Eighteen years later I can run the same times....bad news is, the record is a full second quicker!!

My '74 Grabber had a plastic duct thing. I've never seen a '72 with one.

I think that confirms the fact that the intake ducting was not introduced until '74 or '73 at the earliest. I may look for the parts and give it a try on a T&T day. If it makes some HP, I'll try and slip it by the tech guys;)

    Thanks again everyone!!

(...just installed the 5.43 gears, there's lots of RPM in my future!):yippee:

The 73 on eBay has one ... so I would say 73 was the first year ...
