One of the magazines I subscribe to is "Cars & Parts " This issue has a Price Guide for 46-73 Fords. One thing I find interesting and totally disagree with is the Sprint. In number 1 condition, the Grabber, for all years listed, (71-73), is set at $13,640 for the V8. The Sprint V8 is only set at $10,140. Now, I know all you Grabber Gomers are saying, "What's your point"? Well, my point is that I find it hard to believe, if they did any research at all, when you compare 2 equal cars, one of them made for 6 years and one made for 1 year, the one year only car is worth about 25% less that the one that was made for 6 years. I also know these price guides usually have little to do with the real world when it comes to cars like ours, but it seems to me they should strive for at least some accuracy.
you'd think the one year only cars would have a higher value. guess you'll be selling that sprint for a lot less now????
I agree...but you know what??? I'm just glad that they finally recognize that there IS a Sprint! I never could find it on the NADA site.
Not a problem Dennis....I take it off your hands, if you pay me one dollar. Have to make it worth my while....
You never know, maybe they meant $20,000 instead of $10,000. Someone will have to give me a sprint inorder for me to make sure it's worth more.
i understand that those prices are average, from cars that are being sold.that just means that not many sprints are being sold. the ones that are, is just not high quality. hope that makes since not sure how to word it.
So the average price for a real nice grabber now is 13K, according to those figures? Wow, I better start saving more $$ than I had originally planned.
I don't agree 100% with the price guide anyways .... My Rankings for Mavericks values from high to low would be ... 1) 71/72 Grabber 2) 70 Grabber / 73 Grabber / Sprint / Stallion 3) 70/72 Small Bumper 2- door 4) 74 Grabber 5) 75 Grabber 6) 73 2-door 7) 71/72 4-door 8) 73 4-door 9) 74-77 4-door
I have subscribed to Cars and Parts for over 25 years. The mag is going downhill some since Bob Stevens is not editor. In general for that price guide, if it wasnt a stang or a t-bird there were really some questionable ranges. Mavericks included. Dan
Its pretty much a given that personal taste will factor into anybody's list. Given all the different models in equal condition, rarity would probably be the most fair way to judge value. Thats pretty much the way it breaks down in other cars. Just some food for thought.
