Well guys I had one heck of a great 4th of July  which is turning out to be a literal Gold mine for the Comet!!! Went to My wife's friends 4th of July party.

One of the couples at the party we have gotten to be pretty good friends :Handshake with. Brian is what is best described as a Jack of all trades :jack: when it comes to automotive work , He built and Tubbed a '79 Monte Carlo by himself and raced for a while B.M. (before marriage) This guy had a '54 Chevy 95% complete before he had to sell it when moving into his new house about 1 year ago.
he currently works full time at an Auto glass company In Des Moines

Anyway in a conversation I had with him months ago of course told him about my Comet and he says "yeah my brother has either a Comet or Maverick not sure which" We got to talking and from the sounds of it it sounds like '73 or so Comet

Ok Fast forward to this July 4th. We're talking and he says yeah you know my brother does have a Comet says it has a factory hood scoop. So I tell him yeah sounds like it might be a GT he say yeah it has a stripe down the doors.

Anyway we get to talking I tell him how I removed the vinyl roof to fix surface rust etc, and how I have to get that done and repainted pretty soon. He says heck let me help you do that, I love doing that stuff, and he says I will make patch panels (for the quarters, and fenders) for you then we can cut out the rust and I can weld them in for you. So I tell him hey I will keep that in mind when I scrape the money together. He says "heck don't worry about it:yikes: :bananaman :bananaman , buy me a case of beer :drink: :drink: and help me out on my project well call it even.. I 've grown up around this stuff and one thing my dad taught me is that car guys gotta stick together and help each other out. You scratch my back I'll scratch yours."

His project is a downsized highboy, that he is fabricating out of fiberglass he is creating the blueprints for the design ( he has taken CAD courses) and plans on a Briggs 20 horse v twin to power it, he's going to custom build the chassis as well. I told him just let me know whenever he needs help I'll be there. He's coming down to my house Saturday to get started on my car he's got the tools to properly remove all the moldings and he can even help me pull galss etc as we progress.. heck he's a car window guy!!

Any way long post but I just had to share this with all of you, talk about falling into a great opportunity:dance: , and I will learn a load of skills along the way!!!

Yeah, I think friendship, comraderie, and smiliar interests are carrying one heck of a lot of value here.

It's a trick! Don't let him drink it before! Wait till he's REAL thirsty and give him ONE. That's just so he will stay till the task is done. Spread them out like maybe one every hour or something, just tell him there on ice and they gotta stay cold. Oh, and be sure to get one every time he does, that way he only gets half a case and has to come back for a second round.:biglaugh: :rofl2: :drink:
