    RE

My friend has 1 5/8s on the 306 with victor jr heads solid roller turns it 8000. Sure it might be a little quicker with 1 3/4 but who knows. No one can seem to outrun him and there all on the bottle. As far as the 8 3/4s they are very good i like them better than the 9 inch ford.

I have 1 5/8 headers on my AFR205 right now and I am saving my money to get the 1 3/4 super comps. It should make a load of difference!
If your heads have 1 3/4 exhaust ports, buy the right header for it the first time, cause eventually you will.

budget ~ $800 for the super comps, coating, gaskets, spacer plates, shipping etc.

I just went through the ordeal. I also agree, I probably wouldn't be satisfied if I hadn't done it though.

Hey Buddy, can you spare a dime?

Fill me in on who has beaten him, I know last time i was down he was having trouble with it. I keep telling him to take it to the track and tune it but i guess he doesnt really want to see a time slip i guess. Last year the car ran really good, maybe everyone is getting faster,

It appears you guys are busting Richard's balls (a fellow Maverick owner).

I'd root for the guy and I don't even know him.

Hell, I'll root for anybody - 'hope they have their best outing everytime out - if they get beat- so be it? That's racing. You can't win 'em all.

I would want to race and win over a guy who has his car in top notch running order. A win over someone who isn't running their best is an empty win to me.

Just curious - maybe I'm reading too much into the posts.

Cityboy, if you can't afford a set of 1 3/4" headers or don't want to go through the hassle to make them work I suggest that you pick up a set of used 1 5/8" headers because they will work!!! I was running the 1 5/8 hedman's on my 347 with a shot of nitrous and the car went a 6.35 @112 spinning!!! This year I will be running the 1 3/4" headers and I think on top end (on the nitrous) is when they will really help. Nitrous adds alot to each cylinder and that stuff needs to get out, if I would've had the money I would have had a set of custom 2" headers made but I can't afford that right now!!! But, if you plan on upgrading to the 1 3/4" headers in the future I would suggest you go ahead and do it!!!

I agree with Steve on this one (plus I need to get my post count up :D) .

Time will tell, but I think I could've gotten a set of custom made 2" primary headers made for the cost of buying the Super Comp 1-3/4" s. (Not that I NEED the 2" primaries - just a comparison).

Steve, you've racked some good numbers with your 1-5/8"!! Jeez!

I'm looking forward to hearing your new bests with the 1-3/4" Super Comps.

    Soon?

I shipped my valvebody back to JPT today so as soon as he gets it back to me i'll get her to the track!!!! I'm excited to see if the changes i've made will help the cars times on motor. I know they will be better on the nitrous since i'm going with a bigger shot this year but i'm interested how the motor will run with the new intake, spacer plate, headers and not to mention the entirely new suspension!!! The guys around here wanted $1200 -$1500 to build be a custom set of headers........not in my budget right now!!

PS. Hey Rick, at least selling your headers will offset the cost of the spacer flanges!!!! Expensive little buggers!!!;)

re: selling headers to offset cost

No takers yet from this board yet - I think they go to ebay tomorrow.

Let's see, if I sell them for $75.00, the offset will be around 75/800ths. I don't feel so bad now! ;)

    Cometgt1974,
Thanks, I have some headers but they are 1-5/8 on the outside.
They are hooker super comp headers.
I am thinking of trying to get some hedman elite headers that are 1-5/8 on the inside.
I am just wondering if the 1-3/4 would make that much of a difference.
    Thanks Steve
