Finish installing the motor around 7:30am Sunday morning (3rd shifter in me ) Doc came over this evening and she fired on the 1st try! The new motor sounds nasty, Doc learned me a bunch of stuff that I had wrong on it before.......not sure what it will run, but I plan to take it to the track Wednesday T&T and shake it down a little. I have known Doc for a few years now.....and it was the biggest grin on his face I have ever seen when he said...... "it sounds good". My ears are still humming from the little 6,000 rpm cracks he was giving it Now keeping my fingures crossed that the T&T goes good. Doc will be over next Sunday to do a leak down, then it will wait for Owensboro....which after the leak down will be about 12 hours away for me
Without getting real technical. with a pressure gauge in the spark plug hole,Put compression in the cylinder, you check to see if it is holding compression. *making sure the rings have set*
That's where you pull the plug and use a compression tester and watch how long it takes for the compression to leak down. It's a test to see how good the rings and valves are sealing. That's a little something from my kart racing days. In kart racing you used that to determine when it was time for a rebuild, usually about every 6 races.
wtg john sounds like just what the doctor ordered!can't wait to see it!now....i've been meaning to ask you about a ride down the track!
"*making sure the rings have set*" never heard of that turm...here in Gawga it is... "seated". ...no friends frank...
Ah yes, Nothing like the smell of fresh engine breaking in in the morning, Smells like, VICTORY!!!!!!!!!
