I got a good couple of hours in on the Mav tonight. Eliminated about 70% of the rust on the passenger side. My youngest daughter Jamie (she's 5) was hanging out helping me. She was sanding and asking about a million questions. What a fun night. It just doesn't get any better than that. :D

Saul, that is great! Sounds like you got two things accomplished.
    1) Got some work done on the Mav! (always a good thing!)
    2) Making memories with your daughter!

Just curious, are you treating the metal with any rust converters etc., so you kill the rust?

Don't forget to take pics of your process!

I am treating the metal with a rust converter. I am hoping that this works well. Does anyone have experience using rust converters?

We use a rust converter that is made by Mar-Hyde. I can't think of the name of it at the moment, but it works great. I treated an entire frame from a 54' Ford pickup with this stuff and the rust never came back. The trucks owner was very happy.

I've used a rust treatment called Rust-Mort. It etches the metal and so far, seems to work well. It was recommended by one of my suppliers who sells a lot of it to local body shops.

    good times

Saul, It always seems to be more work done in less time when you share the work with your child(ren). I know my son and I have spent some quality time on his car that I thought I had lost the opportunity to have with him. (he's 16 and smarter than me....)Love to see the pics. Robert:)

I'm glad to hear that the rust converters have been so succesful. Does most of the rust have to be removed first?

I'm hoping to have pics of my Mav to show off soon!
