Hey guys I originally started out with the idea of putting a 351W into my 1993 mustang I had talking to Pny Pwr and Spankustang about it earlier this year. Well it went from the W to meeting a friend through a new job and going to what we though was either a 351C or M. We werent 100% sure since it was at his dads house down in TX. Well a few months back we found out it was for sure a 351C and with his dad being a chebbie guy he just assumed it was a 2v 351C. So me and my friend were going to slap that into the fox. I decided not to molest the 93 since it was/is in perfect working order and makes a perfect DD. So we started talking and turns out my friends dad has a 1974 maverick grabber sitting in the back of his yard that had a blown 302 and was just sitting there. Well I asked my friend what the plans were for the mavi. now. He said him and his dad were going to drop the 351C into it till I came along to buy the C, so now its just sitting there. So I asked him if he and his dad still wanted to drop the C into the Mavi. So fast forward to last week they managed to shoe horn the 351C into the engine bay and hooked it up to the tranny and everything. I have pictures but they are polaroids and small ones at that. Its got minor rust in some spots but Im not to worried about it. I just ordered the final parts needed to get it running and to order the headers I needed to know if it was a 2V or 4V setup, well Fri I found out it was actually a 4V setup! . Yay to me! The parts are arriving there as I type this and hopefully by the end of Aug I will have project Top Gun up here and roaming the streets and track! As it sits its an open rear end with a manual 3 speed. Im looking to slap in a mini-spool with a 4.11 gear setup. Hopefully I can sail her down the track before the seasons done! P.S. The Intake valves are only 2.19 and the exhast are only 1.7 :evilsmile
Cool! Looks like plug changes are going to be a pain though. Also, looks like your car is a '73, not '74.
Well the motor isnt in for good yet we still need to slap on an oil pan and the carb and what not, We still might shave those towers just a bit. Also how can you tell if its a 73 and not a 74? Edit: we may end up cutting holes into the inner fender to get to the plugs, Id rather look a little goofy and have convienance!
You have a small rear bumer and a mid sized frt bumper 74 up had 2 really big bumpers. I like the 73's alot !!!
Ah I see good to know! Im thinking of doing fiberglass hood, front fenders, bumpers and valances. I was looking at www.up22.com for my supply, any pros or cons? Edit: Im thinking since one of the vertical bars is gone from the front bumper of just taking the other off, dosent look so bad.
Next time you are around the car, get the VIN and all the info off the tag inside the driver's side door. With that info, we can tell you what year it is, if it is a true Grabber or not, what engine it had from the factory, where it was originally from, what color it was, and all kinds of stuff.
It should be a shade of brown should be a true grabber with a 302 and 3 spd from the factory, Ill get the vin as soon as Im back in town from going down to TX. Once I pick it up Ill take better pics also, those were scanned. The grabber hood has some rust damage on the nose of it, is it worth anything/repairable? Im looking to get a tunnel ram and fiberglass hood so I wont need it.
The 73's didn't come with the grabber hood snorkel hood. They came with a flat hood and a sticker they should have though
So I wonder what year the hoods off of...Im sorry for not being very knowledgable Im just jumping into all this haha.
Hmm good to know. The front of the hood where the chrome is attached to is rusted pretty good, is that repairable?
Ok well like I stated earlier Im planning on getting a fiberglass hood for a tunnel ram, just wondering if my hood was a lost cause or not. Maybe someone will want it after all!
