The trunk lid on my 77 4 door has a big hole where the lock was, like somebody punched it out. I was wondering if I'd need to replace the whole lid, or if you guys had any advice for me.

I haven't had a ton of luck with finding a fiberglass trunk for it, and I'm worried about the shipping costs for a metal one, if I could even find that either.

    Hm..

Well, I have a replacement lock already. But the hole that the old one was in looks like the lock was pushed through it.

The hole is bigger, but not cut out, there are little parts that look like the metal tore and were pushed backwards. Like someone rammed the lock into the trunk trying to get in. It's not huge, but bigger than the lock.

Ram:rolleyes: the hole back out from the back side and see if it will fit enough to cover the damage area. Damage sounds minimal but i'm not the one looking at it.

Might use a doll on the outside while hammering too.

I would think getting a stock trunk lid would not be that difficult.
I have not seen a big call for them which would lead me to believe there would be plenty out there.
Surely there is a bone yard in your area that has a maverick in it.
As far as shipping a fiberglass one...I believe unlimited products offers them, being in Cali. shipping would not be that bad...I had a hood shipped to me for about $80 if my memory is correct.

Thanks, maybe I'll go junkyarding some time soon. I'll take a look at Unlimited, too.

    ***after note***

I just looked and they only offer parts up to the 76 Mav, and they don't specify if it is for 2 door or 4. I was on another page that specified that the trunk lid they had was only for the 2 door so I don't know if there is a design difference.

YES, there is a BIG diffrence between a 2-door/4-door trunk lid. :yup:

I am sure they are offering the 2-door but I would call and check.

    Blugene: Bite me :rofl2:

4dr and 2dr trunk lids are diffrent, but a lid off a comet is still interchangable with a maverick

if you can't find one locally send me a p.m. i have a perfect one off of a 77 in my garage. shipping would probably be around $100 but would need an exact zip for pricing.

Trunk lids dont have locks in them. The tail light panel does. I believe its Eastwood who has a tool to restore the lock hole like your talking about.
