has anybody done the steering column swap, from a auto on the tree, to a floor shift column? just wondering if the wires and connections and so on, are the same. thx
I swapped a 71 auto on the column to a 72 floor shift column and the wiring harness was the same ... plugged right in ...
You don't need to swap the entire column, and why do all that extra work? Just swap the shift collar with the floor-shift collar. That's what I did...
Probably ... I had the entire car apart anyway so it was easier to just swap the column when I did it ...
Not to revive an old thread, but... is this the only difference between a '70 column and a '74 column? ----^ And will the shift collar off of a '70 just "bolt" on to the '74 column? No differences or mods necessary? Thanx...
Take the shift collar off and cut the nub down flush. Then fill the hole with epoxy or filler. Sand. Paint. Done.
Yep, '69.5 colum is totally diffrent. When I convert my '69.5 to floor shift, I am using a floor shift collar off of a '69 F100. Easy as can be, I love this '69.5.
