    hello all.

I'm a prior Maverick owner (71 2-door) and will soon be in the market for another. I am currently active duty Army in Iraq and shortly after returning, will be moving to Fort Hood, TX. At that time (already acquired the wife's blessing) I will be looking for a replacement to my beloved Maverick.

I'd prefer the earlier years (wouldn't we all), but am open to anything. I want a 2 door and intend to go with an EFI 5.0 eventually. Most importantly, I want this car for fun factor and overall drivability. My racing years are behind me and now i'm all about the cruise. I would prefer a straight rust-free car so I don't have to restore it before playing.

Close vicinity to the Fort Hood area would be perfect, but I'll travel to where the right car is so ANYBODY is welcome to drop me a line. I will be in the market officially in March of 07..just thought i'd drop a line early and prime the pump so to speak.

Look forward to talking with the forum and I can't wait to have my baby back.

    Thanks,
    Vince King

thanks everyone for the warm reception. I know it's a litte early to start panning for a Mav (7 months early), but that should be an indication of how excited i am to get another.

My first car was a 71 with rusted out quarters and a pair of needle-nose pliers for a floor shifter. If you put anything smaller than a basketball in the trunk it probably wouldn't make it there.) I later had a friend put the M2 suspension in it (it was very ugly, don't ask for pics) followed by a 427 police interceptor, c6 and 9" rear. since it wasn't built correctly, i rolled it at KCIR (kansas city) amateur drags. My heart died with that car.

I've restored a lot of muscle cars (sorry to admit i have a soft spot for 442s) and the Mav was the first "old" car that my wife actually liked. that's all the encouragement i needed to get. so now, it's back to a Mav and i'm doing it right this time.

Look forward to talking with you all. You have some beautiful mavs on this page. I'm not afraid to pay for a quality car (straight) but i'm not looking for a grabber. I'm going to be doing a lot of custom work and i just don't have the heart to mess a grabber up. I'm sure you folks can understand.

    vince

    :Welcome:
When you get back take a drive thru west Texas. Every now and then you'll find some cool stuff in fields. Just the other day I saw a 442 all orig but hit in the RR quarter. My boss said out in tennyson there was a 72 Mav for sale....gone by the time I got there. Texas hides a lot of gems, you just gotta talk the people out of them, of course, after you find them.
