 hi all, a ??? for the stock daily drivers. The 2-door '74 is getting around 11-13 mpg. Is this about right, or is there some tuning that I could do to help it? It's a 250 w/auto..... 16 yr old driver, but he seems not to get on it too hard. I've done plugs, wires, fuel filter, checked dwell and timing and all seems well. any input welcome, thanx Robert:confused:

    hmm

Hmm. if i remember right, our 72 250 auto four door usually got right around 20 on the average. Maybe your running rich??? or maybe he is getting on it wayyyy more than you think.

    You do have a problem!

My 77 with smog removed, dual exhaust, Holley 600 and Comp Cams XE256 gets 19mpg highway.

Even my old tired 69 Mustang with a 351 auto 750 Holley gets 17 highway!

maybe a bad needle valve in carb????maybe a killer stereo drawing way too many amps...loading up the alternator. (yuk yuk) i just can't see a 250 getting that kind of gas mileage.

    thanks for info

:) thanks for info guys, almost finished w/my daily reading:rolleyes: and typing:p The 11-13 mpg thing is gone...I guess I should have just waited. I checked the mpg on the 2nd or 3rd tank since nov. last year, and now the last check of mpg gave me 16.7. i guess driving an old car does help.....robert
