Seems you could also lighten up the front end by a few other mods if you like: Fiberglass fenders, valance, and hood. Aluminum radiator Careful attention to front rims. Mix of strength and lighter weight. Battery in trunk. You gotta figure that these are some of the things that those 'other guys' do when they build a BBC Camaro that can take corners.
well i put the mav back on the ground today to see what the ride height looked like ..with the new 2 inch lowered spindles , and i also cut one complete coil off the springs, the front tyre is about 1/4 inch off the fender ,the lower control arms are sitting parallel to the ground.......ill post a pic tomorrow..Barry
I'm sure if you weigh the cast iron heads and intake you will find they are around 165 lbs,a big block ford with aluminum heads and intake will weigh nearly the same as a iron small block, the c6 is the killer though.Derek.
Yea I Agree But With Around 650 Ftlbs Of Torque I Do Not Think The C4 Would Handle It At Least That Is What My Engine Builder Says And It Will Only Matter If I Can Get It To The Ground....barry
IMO you can build a C4 to handle it, but that's allota dough to get it done. A C6 is heavier and causes much more parasitic loss, but with that much power, and cost concerns, it probably doesn't matter much. I am a glutton for punishment, so I would probably use a C4 myself. But to recommend it to someone is a different story... Dave
Very Nice Ride! I was thinking of 17x9 bullit rims front and 17x10.5 rear. How about some photos with the new 17x11 rear rims? I would like to see how much work I will need to do to put them on my mav. Has anyone put the mustang bullit rims on a maverick?
what rims are those? they are awesome, i would love some of those for my car, also where did you get the racing seat? what brand is it? thanks
ooo looks good so far! pro tour.... i think the 460 would be a bit nose heavy no? and if you go pro tour just don't turn into a pro tour snob.... keep the updates comming!
As for the wheels they are American Racing Hopster wheels with no spacers 16 x 8 with a 4 inch offset on rear...as for the seat i bought them off ebay from a guy that sells enough to have an ebay store i will try and find a link for you they were $300.00 a pair with seat tracks and two 4 point harness, not a race harness but a street harness....and if they can make a camaro go around corners with a bb chevy i should be able to do the same and i would never become a PT snob grass roots is where i come from..i build my own stuff........Barry
here is a link to the guy i bought my seats from just check his other items the shipping from him was fast and i was happy with the product good luck also these seats in this link are cheaper than mine...Barry eBay Motors: 2X LEATHER RACING SEATS CAMARO MUSTANG AUDI BMW VW BENZ (item 140030551153 end time Sep-22-06 10:30:18 PDT)
i have decided to go with a hydra boost brake setup as they are the smallest and do not need vacum to run of course i will have to run a power steering pump to make the system work here is a link if you have any questions on this system Hydratech Braking Systems :: Gallery :: Hydratech Braking Systems - manufacturers of high performance hydraulic brake assist.
I like those seats! Remind me of Porsche GT3 seats. I like the Hydro boost system too, sure keeps the engine bay looking clean and neat. Your going to have one wicked Maverick when you get done!
I like the hydra boost idea, but I would use the set up from any 96 or newer Mustang 4.6. Used it's both cheap and Ford.
