If I can't say the Maverick, then I think the Falcon/Comets would qualify. There are still a lot of them around, and they seem like they will be for quite a while. Besides, they had a nice body design. And, nothin better than a pair of blonds in a '64 Falcon convertable.

Ok, I'll bite first. I believe that the best Ford wasn't a car at all, but a light truck. The F Series has proven itself over time as being the vehicle that can do it all. I owned an F-150 back in the '70s and it was a well built, reliable utility vehicle. Now, you can find a version that fits anyone's needs completely and reliably.

The best engine is a no brainer...the 250 CID straight 6. This is a powerful, bulletproof engine that should still be in the Ford line-up. This is a well designed plant that has enough power and torque that it propelled many very heavy full size cars in it's day and had a stellar service record. I remember my father's '60 Fairlane with a 250 and three on the tree. This car was a barge with fins, but the inline 6 did it's job. I have two of them in my Mavs and I can attest, especially in one of them, that they keep going strong with a little TLC, when others would have gone to that engine graveyard in the sky.

It's hard for me to define best Ford ever. When I think of best, there are a few different categories.

    Most reliable car/truck: Ranger
    Coolest car: Pantera
Best looking car: '69 mach 1, closely followed by mavs ;)
Most name recognition and popular: Undoubtedly the Mustang, probably the most successful American car of all time. I see probably 50 every day ranging from mid 60's all the way up brand new.

    GT40.

Unlike the Pantera, it actually PROVED it could whoop a Ferrari.

the engins I like are the 300 I6 the 250 I6 , boss 302 ,and the 351 W. The most reliable car would have to be the maverick . When it would be time for my mother to get rid of her other cars because they were nothing but four wheels and ducktape the maverick would just need a tune up :D

In my opinion(key word) the GT 40 is not only the greatest Ford ever produced, it's one of the all time greatest race cars ever produced, even to this day. And the engine that originally powered it, the 427 le mans has to be considered not only one of the most powerful engines but as it proved, one of the most durable. Any engine that can last 24hrs and hit speeds, on the strait, of 200mph lap after lap has to get some respect from the Hemi boys.

I would have to say the best non - mav car ford ever made IMO was the 86-93 Ford mustang with the 5.0 HO fuel injected.

Those little things just keep going, and going, and going, beat them into the ground, and they keep going!!!! Easy, and cheap to modify.

I would have to add the good old "S" model Crown Vic's of the '83-'89 vintage. I had 208,000 miles on our 302 - '86 Crown Vic when I was rearended by a drunk and the car was totalled. It not only saved my life, but if it wasn't for that accident, I might still be driving it! That was the coldest A/C I ever had in a car.

gotta love the '65 Comet Caliente, and Thunderbolt. But I would take a '32 3window with full fenders and all, over all of them
